A lot of individuals would want to draw cartoon characters but they see this as a difficult task. However, this task is not that difficult if such people learn how to draw cartoon characters. What one needs is determination to learn and practice. Below are some tips to help people draw cartoon characters successfully.

To begin the process of drawing a person ought to be having in mind the caricature to draw. For beginners, they are usually advised to use simple structures such as squares, ovals, circles, tear drops among other shapes to create a face for the caricature. The features that need to stand out include the eyes, nose, ears, mouth and hair. A person must then decide which shape to use for the face.

After which the individual will get a blank paper and a good pencil and then sketch the face. This should be done faintly as one may rub some parts for one reason or another. Being able to put the sketch on paper is the beginning of visualizing the imagination in the head. One does not have to worry about drawing perfect shape as distortions or exaggerations are what make a face stand out.

When the face is completed, one should then get onto the body which should be maintained simple as possible. Basic shapes can also be used here such as curves, lines, rectangles and any other shape one would want to use. If one does not want to use the shapes, he can think of how bodies of his favorite animations look like and try to draw such body types for his caricatures.

When it comes to the legs also, a person should have in mind ideas of long or short lines which should be exaggerated. The head or body can also be exaggerated as this creates humor and this is what animation characters are intended to give us. Once the sketch is complete, an individual then outlines the character. This is to make the caricature clear bearing in mind that when sketching, one was using the pencil faintly.

One can decide to make certain features of the character to be bolder than the others. Persons can also put shadings on various sides of the drawing to show some depth. Other than shadings, the image can also be colored depending on the additions one wants for his character or left the way it is.

The procedure can be repeated again and again to make perfect. One should however ensure to keep in mind simplicity as the caricatures ought to be simple. Drawing a complex character can be hard for many people but with time this can be possible. One can start by a simple sketch and then modify the sketch into a complex animation by adding certain things or using complex shapes. But all this will happen with time.
