By Stephanie Morgan

Canvas prints are favored these days by many people as an inexpensive and inventive way to decorate their walls. They have become very hot as they offer practicality, versatility, and a personal way to brighten, as many people will print their photos on canvas. Since they come in several sizes, price doesn't become an issue. Most individuals desire their canvas print to last for a considerable time, and possibly pass it on as a legacy, especially in the case of a family portrait or special memory which has been immortalised on a canvas print. it's very important to care and clean your canvas prints reasonably to promote their longevity - they can last you over 100 years if correctly maintained. Follow these simple tips to care for your canvas prints; they are going to last you much longer.

Naturally, you'll need to hang your canvas print. Use correct hardware to support its size and hang away from sunlight exposure. The sun rays will cause the colour to vanish, and in numerous cases yellow your canvas. In addition, hang in a spot that's away from moisture - moisture causes mould. It is best if you hang it away from little ones and pets, that may be curious and play with it, scratch it, or write on it. Before hanging, observe your walls throughout the day to see the pattern in which light moves around your house; this will help you choose the right spot for it.

Canvas is an organic material and so will deteriorate if not cared for correctly or placed in the right spot. Changes in temperature will expand and contract the fabric and wood in a stretched canvas, so it should be placed away from hot or cold areas such as vents, stove, drafty door ... In a stretched canvas the wood may bend, and the canvas won't be fitted properly to it, causing creasing, or wrinkling. Find a place where the temperature is more even.

A canvas print must be dusted using a soft duster like a feather duster, and it should never be rubbed. You should not put water or cleaners on it, or any type of solvents. Avoid leaving without dusting for extended periods as dust will settle and will form a film that will affect the colour. Regular light dusting works best.

When cleaning round the home avoid spraying around it or in the air around it as the mist will travel and lodge itself on the canvas - as an example, air fresheners in aerosol have a tendency to be heavy at certain times and you can see the mist traveling thru the air or settling on the floor. Spray away from the canvas print.

Observe your canvas and see if you see any signs the wood that's stretching it has any insect damage or has weakened and your print seems loose. Take it to a professional so it can be stretched again and change the wood as necessary.

If wanting storing your canvas prints, do it in a room that's not too hot, and wrapped them in soft fabric so they're not scratched.

These few easy pointers are going to help you keep your canvas prints looking wonderful for many years to come.

Is the Process Of Song Writing A Thing Of The Past

By Margareth Samson

I was just sitting in my office knocking up a SEO report for some clients when Justin Bieber came blasting out of the radio from an office adjacent to mine. I quickly shut the door and contemplated has the craft of song writing been relocated to history.

Give it some thought in any decade from years gone by. In the 50's you had Elvis, Buddy Holly, Johnny Cash, Diana Ross & The Supremes, Billie Holiday, Jody Reynolds, Bill Haley and His Comets, Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, Small Richard, and Tom Jones, not forgetting Sinatra and all of the swing Jazz and blues legends (Ray Charles, Shirley Bassey, Dean Martin, BB King...), sometimes all releasing records at the same time.

In the 60's you had many of these artist's again - longevity was not an issue as is now - and The Stones, The Beatles, Pink Floyd and getting away from the British rock bands, The Doors, Bob Dylan, Janice Joplin, The Beach Boys. The seventies saw The Bee Gee's, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, James Brown, Joni Mitchell, David Bowie, Aretha Franklin, Ac/Dc, Kool & The Gang.

The 80's saw the stuff of legends from Duran Duran, The Smiths, The Stone Roses, Frankie Goes To Hollywood, Madonna, Gary Numan, Michael Jackson, Guns N ' Roses, Kiss, Def Leppard, Eurythmics. Then with the 90's we had Nirvana, Radiohead, U2, Prince, The Prodigy, Bon Jovi, Primal Scream, Tu Pac, Soundgarden Pearl Jam.

With the noughties we were given Eminem, Coldplay, Foo Wrestlers, Red Hot Chiil Peppers, 50 Cent, Snow Patrol, Chemical Bros, Jay Z, Gorrillaz, Queens Of The Stone Age. But sadly the modern pop lore at the end of the 2000's has favored throw away rubbish pop. I'm not talking about bubblegum pop like the Beach Boys, as their songs have stood the test of time.

But rubbish vocodered thrashing pop songs all about being in "the club" getting it on with somebody you have just met. "What's my name" a chanting. Who cares. Good music should talk for itself and not brand the singers name. ABsolutely appalling. Today's music is about fame for fame's sake and nothing else. It's a corporate commodity.

Three Habits of Successful Professional Photographers. Part 2

By Matt Brading

This is the second installment of our look at the three most important habits I see in the most successful, professional photographers who pass through the GlobalEye Photo Agency each month. We covered Lighting and Patience in the first installment -- if you missed that, you can check our sell stock photos blog -- otherwise we'll dive back in and look at technique.

For all the benefit of automatic-everything cameras, I sometimes wish they were somehow only available after the photographers had passed a manual photography course. Sadly, it is so straightforward and so convenient, that most photographers who start out on fully automatic never go back and find out how to control the camera settings themselves.

And that means there are a huge number of photographers out there making images that are almost great ... But because they have no theory and only very basic technical skills, they won't ever know what's holding them back and more importantly, how simple it is to correct the mistakes and make great photographs.

I see this each week with the membership application submissions. Images that could have been stunning if the photographer had only turned off the center weighted auto focus and gave more attention to their subject. Shots that could have been stunning if they'd turned off the preset exposure mode, and thought about their depth-of-field. Shots that would have been stunning if only they'd thought about the effects of shutter speed ...

The other disappointment is those photographers who do not even bother to read the manual that came with their camera so they would make use of the features available to them. Here are just a few problems .. And the photographer's explanations ... That I've seen just lately ...

1. Great submission of stock photos, but all of them had a significant color cast that even I (seriously color-blind) could spot.

"Yes, I saw something about setting white balance, but figured the factory settings would have it covered..."

2. Strong subjects & compositions, but too grainy to ever use ...

"That's possibly because I keep the ISO set to 1600 so I don't have to stress about flash using up my batteries ... "

3. Amazing submission ... Technically spot on & material perfectly suited for stock, except they were shot as medium jpgs ...

"I didn't want to run out of space on my memory stick ... "

The last one might sound absolutely ridiculous but is a familiar story around here ... The photographer had a $2000 camera and was shooting lots of great photos every week with real stock potential, if only he'd spent another $50 on a couple of extra memory sticks. (The average point-and- shoot these days captures a better quality file than the one this guy was saving!)

So the final suggestion here is, if your total photography experience is digital-auto, every chance you can, switch off the auto-everything and learn how to do it yourself.

Even better, call into the local used camera gear shop and pick up an old manual film camera ... They are giving them away these days ... And put one or two rolls of film thru it. You'll learn more from those 100 shots than a year with your digital auto-everything!

OK, that's just a few general ideas to get you started. Next time around I will cover a couple more specific elements we see in the top selling pictures and a simple trick to be certain you get them right each and every time.

For now, feel free to visit our website and post your own thoughts on what makes a photographer a professional!

Three Habits That Make a Photographer A Professional

By Matt Brading

Through our stock library, I usually look at 25-30 new photographer applications every month. I have been doing that for well over 10 years now so that's about 3000 photographers and 40,000+ photos. I also spend lots of time each month watching the new photographs being added to both our stock libraries. Again this amounts to many more thousand images every year.

I'm able to tell you, in all those images there have been thousands of photos that would have been great stock photographs with real sales potential, if the photographer had only done their job right. The frustrating part is, in all those cases, the damage was done by 1 or 2 fairly simple mistakes that might have been easily avoided.

Now I should readily admit that I am no master photographer ... In truth I've hardly touched my cameras since we started work on OzImages back in 1998 ... But I know what separates an OK photograph from a stock image with real sales potential. So in this two-part article I'm going to look at three main differences I see between the serious amateurs and the pros.

Lighting

If I could only make one suggestion, this would be it. Most amateurs only consider about lighting after sunset. An even then, all they think to do is pop up the flash. Some 'outdoor ' photographers might time their work for early morning or late afternoon light, but even then they still tend to look at lighting as a separate component of from the image.

The pros on the other hand, consider the lighting of their subject, and they do it with each single shot.

Their focus isn't just on the light, but the way the light is affecting their subject and whether that will work for the message they are attempting to capture. The pros will consider additional lighting, or shading, on every single shot. It is just as much a part of their routine as removing the lens cap.

So make it part of your pre-shot routine to stop and consider how your subject is lit.

Are the main features properly lit? Is there anything you can do to make it better? Flash might be an option, but so might a reflector, a different camera position, turning on a light ... Coming back in one or two hours time.

Remember, nothing kills the commercial prospects for an image as swiftly as uneven lighting ... Photo Users take one look as deep shadows and/or washed out highlights and walk away without a backward glance.

Make the lighting of your subject your main concern and your images will improve dramatically in both quality and commercial potential.

Patience

If all you do is capture a visual representation of what's there at the time, you are taking amateur photos, and they are a dime a dozen. If you want to capture stock photo images that are going to stand out in the crowd -- and sell -- you have to convey a message or a story about that subject to your viewers.

So make it a habit to study your subject in detail before you even look through the view-finder. Work out what it is that you wish to convey to your audience? Conversely, what might your viewer not already know about the subject? What can you capture and convey the viewer may not know?

Once you're clear on the key elements of your subject, you can get thinking about the effect different viewpoints may have on the final image. Then you'll find you're actually creating unique and new stock images with real potential.

A lot of amateur photos come across as indecisive. You realise the photographer 'knew ' there was a photo op there, but, rather than dig around a bit and find it, they just kept pressing the shutter expecting to get something. Sometimes they might get something, but more often than not, the ultimate result is vague images with a subject lost in the middle-ground, a lot of clutter in the background and no clear point of interest in the foreground ... And no commercial potential.

Work out exactly what it is you're attempting to say before starting. Then consider your lighting. Then use your technical abilities and creativity to say it.

Buyng Stock Photographs Online

By Matt Brading

Often too much choice could be a bad thing and stock photography is a good example. For years lots of the household-name stock photography agencies would promote themselves as being the biggest and having the largest collections. If you have been paying attention though, you may have spotted that's not such a favourite selling proposition any more and many of the larger libraries are now desperately trying to find other ways to distinguish themselves in an overcrowded market-place.

The truth is, many image buyers find enormous stock photo collections time-intensive and tedious to search, regardless of the improvements in image search engine technology. The difficulty is, the scale of these collections has increased at a greater rate than the search technology has improved ... So in plenty of cases, photo research has actually gotten slower and more difficult. It's no surprise then that an increasing number of image-researchers are opting for smaller 'niche' photo agencies, when they need to buy stock photos online.

These boutique stock libraries don't even try to compete on volume and most of the time they can't compete on price either ... But more and more buyers are swarming to these photo stock sites just the same, with a totally new set of reasons-to-buy.

Private service, contact with the photographers, fresh original pictures, unique styles and subjects. OK, perhaps these are not totally new reasons after all , but they're reasons-to-buy that've been pushed to the back for far to long.

A lot of it comes back to the way in which the image buyer values their time, and what sort of worth they put on finding the right image fast. The good news for photographers is, more are prepared to pay a more to avoid the tedium of a mass-distribution library and hone in on quality new photographs faster.

So the next time you need to buy stock photography, take a pass on the massive stock image super-stores, and check out a few of the boutique collections instead ... You may be pleasantly surprised.

Should I Sell My Stills As Stock Photography

By Brad Stephens

Thinking it time you started selling your images as stock photography? Stock photography is huge and everybody looks to be doing it, unfortunately though, most photographers are going about it the wrong way.

The very first thing you must do is decide where you want to end up ...

Do you want a full time business? Do you dream about throwing in the day job and becoming a full time photographer? Or do you simply need some more cash from your photography? Perhaps you'd be content to buy a new lens every now and then from your profits?

If you need the first option, you are looking at joining a particularly tough industry and that is going to take serious time, effort and you're going to have to invest real money to make it happen.

For stock photography you want to assess every element of your photography the standard of your work, the commercial potential of the subjects you shoot, how many images you have on file and how often you add to them. Quality, Content & Volume to achieve success in stock photography you need to have each of those aspects totally covered.

If you feel you could have work to do in any of those areas, I'd recommend you take some time to work on them first. Take a short course to fine-tune your technique, buy some stock photography books to find more saleable subjects, and then shoot like mad to build up your catalog.

Stock is competitive and guaranteed to suck the joy right from your photography if you attempt to start selling your photos before you are at a level where you can make it work.

If you're not out for a major life-change though, you have a few more options.

A lot of part-time photographers place their pictures with the microstock libraries and hope to make a little bit of small change each year but I truly believe this is about the very worst of your choices.

Some of these stock photo sites are selling images for a dollar or less each, royalty free, so the photographers gets a few pennies for the sale, and the purchaser gets free usage of the image, for evermore. This doesn't worry a lot of newbies, but it has a big effect on the industry. If that does not concern you, it probably should.

If things change and you decide one day to sell your photos seriously, every $1 sale you make is going to make it that much harder for you to earn a living. And to make matters worse, you won't be able to sell and of those photos to high-end photo buyers, because you will not have any idea where they have been published before or where they might turn up next.

Sometimes you will find a better option for the hobbyist is to use your imagesimages as content instead of product, and publish them on your own simple photography sites promoting affiliate products. For most photographers this will lead directly to better returns without giving your images away for peanuts, and if you one day opt to get serious about selling your photos, they're still totally yours to sell.

A New Way To Sell Stock Photography

By Matt Brading

Anybody who's been attempting to sell photos online for any time will know that stock photographers have been getting the short straw lately. A super-competitive market means that most photographers are getting considerably less sales volume than in years gone by and those sales they do pick up are usually at significantly lower dollar values.

To add insult to injury, with digital submissions the photographers are frequently doing more of the work the photo libraries used to do. Where before they used to just post off a submission a few times every year and leave it to the library to do everything else, now they finish up formatting & cleaning images, adding captions and keywords, and all of the management chores ...

And the big stock libraries are still taking their hefty commissions out of any stock image sales, although online catalogs and eCommerce checkouts mean their participation is virtually hands-free.

It isn't surprising that many freelance photographers are wondering what they're actually paying for?

Well a new kind of stock photo library has emerged that addresses these issues and attempts to put the photographers back in the control. They are the direct contact libraries and a lot of photographers and photo-buyers see them as the way of the future.

Most operate as photography marketing co-ops, where their photographers work together to promote their work and generate sales while sharing their costs and expenses. The library provides the marketing platform and the photographers take responsibility for their own sales. The photographer is liberated from limiting contracts, agency deductions and they're free to set their own pricing and license conditions.

An extra bonus for the photographers is that, for the 1st time ever, stock photographers can build up their own customer list -- customers proven to utilize the subjects they shoot -- and they can sell stock photos to them on their terms and their schedule. Rather than waiting around for new photography buyers to find them or hoping their previous clients might come back for more, they can take new stock images and ideas right to the photography buyers, effectively generating photography sales on demand.

In today's super-competitive stock photography industry many are convinced this is the only way for photographers to take control and build a viable and sustainable business selling photos online.

5 Things Every Photographer Should Be Doing On The Web

By Matt Brading

Often it seems the Web was made solely for photographers. On a social level it lets us share photographs with friends and families, we will get together and talk camera gear and photographic technique, and it helps a lot of us overcome the isolation that commonly goes side by side with a photography career.

On a pro level, it provides the resources to showcase our work to Clients, access new markets and conduct the complete stock photography sales process without leaving our office. It also offers the wherewithal to monitor trends, monitor what our peers are doing and see the photography our clients are using.

And for all that, the unfortunate truth is, for many photographers, the pure volume of information and options becomes more of an impediment than a helping hand. They only have so many hours in a day, and choosing what's worth their attention and what isn't becomes a pain, and as a consequence they have an inclination to brush over the important stuff and get way-laid with the unimportant.

Well if you find yourself in that scenario, here's a bare-bones list of the 5 necessary internet site types each freelance photographer should have bookmarked and should be using continually.

1. Stock Photography Library

Few serious photographers wouldn't have a stock photo agency catalogue of some type, but lots of photographers still leave it as something to do later when they're better established, or have more photos. Nowadays that is not obligatory and the best way tosell images online is to begin early and add to your stock catalogue regularly over a period of time.

Stock photography is a long term business though, so do take it steady and find a stock library that fits your work and your style. Ensure it leaves you in charge of your work and does not expect you to hand over your rights, or sell your work too cheap, just to stay in the game.

2. Stock Photo Price Calculator

To that end, make sure you bookmark a good online stock photography price calculator. We all used to handle this with hard-copy books, but things move fast nowadays and new kinds of usage appear each week, so a live stock photography price calculator is essential.. Be warned though, most photographers are blown away when they first use these... Just because most photographers seriously undervalue their work.

If you have never looked at a Stock Photo Price Calculator before, I'd suggest that you write down a list of 5-10 of your most important markets, and then list a couple of 'average ' usages for each. Then open the calculator and work out a price for each usage. Keep it convenient and you have a ready-reference guide if a Customer ever puts you on the spot, but equally importantly, you will get a whole new insight to the value of your photography.

3. Photography Business Stories & Information

If you are eager -- and you don't mind sitting at a P. C. all day -- you can subscribe to dozens of different newsletters and blogs to try to start recent with goings on in the photography industry. Or you can find a single Photography/Business site that does it all for you.

There are a few really good websites out there if you go looking. My suggestion is to look them over and follow a couple until you find one that does the job right for you, your field of work, your interests, your location and so on. The best sites will give you all the crucial information in summary then include links for more information if you want it, so you can stay current and get all the info you require without the info overload.

4. Shopping & Auction Websites

It's no secret, photographers are gadget-junkies! We're always searching for that next piece of must-have camera equipment that we simply can't function properly without. The incontrovertible fact we have already worked quite alright for years without it doesn't matter... Once we know it's out there we have to have it. Sound familiar?

The flip side is, quite often we have got just as much gear we should really get rid of... once again, if the internet was made for us then I am sure the creators of eBay are either photographers themselves, or they've got a few in the family. So bookmark it and use it. If you've got a cupboard of old camera equipment that's not been used in years get it out and put it up for auction, while it still has some value!

5. Online Photographic Community

Freelance photography is often a solo career so the ability to engage with your peers online shouldn't be taken lightly. We all see tons of images on any specific day, but to be able to look at new images and talk about them with other photographers is priceless. Pre-Internet, it was something that only happened at Camera Clubs or waiting around at the Pro-Lab, but the online forums and portal sites now give working photographers to ability to have interaction with their peers, share ideas and information and really grow as artists. And if you aren't making efficient use of them, you are possibly stagnating!

Well that is my top 5 must-bookmark website types. The web offers us the chance to 'round-out ' our photography businesses in ways in which we never could before, so make sure you are getting maximum value from the time you spend online... And remember all work and no play, leads to a boring photographer!

Capturing the Spirit of MayDay With My Superb Nikon D5100 DSLR

By Jamie Baxter

The outset of May has long been appreciated in the Northern hemisphere as a celebration relating to early spring plus the coming of the summer season. The days steadily grow longer, the trees and flowers come into blossom given that mother nature energizes after the prolonged winter. May Day fests in most cases functioned to lead to fertility and therefore a great crop and have generally also been an occasion meant for popular and quite often raucous celebrations. These customs tend to be tracked back to old pagan gatherings like the Celtic pageant of Beltane in addition to the Germanic festivity of Walpurgis Night .

The first of May has a unique significance for anarchists, socialists along with other trade unionists as International Workers Day. It honors the struggle for an 8 hr working day and remembers the sacrifice of 8 anarchists who were framed as accessories to murder after the throwing of some sort of bomb at authorities busting up a peaceful demonstration in Chicago on the first of May 1886. Four ended up being subsequently executed, 1 committed suicide and 3 other individuals sentenced to lengthy jail terms prior to being pardoned. An unknown number of other strikers were mortally wounded or harmed on that day when the cops opened fire at the masses. Consequently, May Day is a day when workers internationally demonstrate their strength, proclaim their ideals not to mention commemorate their achievements; and also for many people to ponder what they can contribute to make a better planet for our children coupled with our children's children.

This year, personally it has been an opportunity to get out and check out my completely new Digital SLR camera, the Nikon D5100. I had been looking at the D3100, but as I'd previously had an Slr camera in the past, all be it a film model, My partner and i didn't desire to have another basic level product.

The D7000 had to be an alternative choice, it's a remarkable DSLR camera for the advanced user, yet , on balance It seemed like the intermediate level Nikon D 5100 was the one in my position and I've definitely not been disappointed by the impressive features and naturally compatibility with my present stock of Nikkor lenses.

Just before I start, I ought to in all probability specify that I'm talking pertaining to Glasgow, Scotland since there are at least 4 different places of the same identify around the world to my personal knowledge. Apart from Glasgow in Scotland, the other 3 are undoubtedly inside the United states, 1 each in Kentucky, Missouri and Montana. There is more than likely scope for a challenge here?

The kind of idea dreamed up after having a night in a watering hole just like coming to every one of the areas known as Glasgow in one month and getting ones photograph inside each one of the respective neighborhood newspapers. Preferably not within the Wanted Dead or Alive section. Or possibly I might always be expected to ask some passer-by to take my picture using my own new Nikon D5100 camera along with some neighborhood local landmark or celebrity. This challenge would follow in the footsteps of Tony Hawkes hitching round Ireland in Europe with a refrigerator (but if you ask me that refrigerator seemed nearer in dimension to a mini-bar rather than the 1 My spouse and i've got in the kitchen). Or simply finding every one of the people on Facebook with the same name as oneself and aiming to meet them all. A man named Dave Gorman did that one, someone even modified their own name to Dave Gorman merely to get in on the action. Now that is without a doubt taking things a bit far.

At any rate, right here in Glasgow the 1st weekend in May stands out as the Streetland community arts event, currently in it's second year with graphic artwork, live artworks, music, movies, live theater, foods, walking organized excursions, street games and cinema all taking place close by a single modest street on the Southside. A veritable frenzy of sound, colour, motion together with cultures. Roma music and songs, the pakora making challenge, Brazilian Capoeira Angola performers, Scottish vocalists, what else could a digital photographer with a new digital camera really want so as to check out the features of his most up-to-date purchase?

Polymer Plates: What Every Artist Needs to Know

By Jon Lybrook

Plate Handling

Whether you process them yourself or go thru a custom service provider, like Intaglio Editions, the edges of steel-backed polymer plates are dangerous! For best safety, please remember to sand the back and edges of new plates before use.

To avoid damaging the plate, we recommend applying ink using a brayer and getting it into the plate with a gentle but consistent twising motion using three stages of cheesecloth (not tarlatan) formed into even pads. Start with the dirtiest cheesecloth to force the ink deep into the delicate matrix of the plate. Continue to wipe with a less inky cheesecloth pad and perform the final pass with the most clean. Be increasingly delicate with each pass of wiping and do not over-wipe. Palm wiping and/or retroussage as a final pass are also suggested.

Printing Materials Suggestions

Due to the extremely fine aquatint employed, our plates require a professional intaglio press (10" top drum or greater in diameter is advised) and pressure that's quite significantly higher than ordinary to gain the full richness and continuous tones they are most capable of expressing. Prints from these plates should look like photographs when made using good printmaking practices and ideal pressure. They are usable for a few dozen prints or even more before subtleties begin to fall off in the highlights. For the most accurate results when proofing, Intaglio Editions recommends using Charbonnel Carbon Black ink and Hahnemhle Copperplate or Magnani Revere Silk paper. We've tested dozens of combos, and these materials work the best for getting the full tonality and smoothness from your Intaglio Editions plate.

Please remember that polymer plates are water-soluble. The light layer of oil-based ink you use to wipe the plate is usually enough to protect it, however do use prudence. Never spray water directly on the plate. The printmaking paper should be damp, although not glistening wet. Although a few people claim to have used water based inks with polymer successfully, we do not suggest it with polymer photogravure printing plates.

Plate Cleanup

The suggested cleanup technique for these plates is to put it on clean newsprint and spray it with SOYsolv II (available from Daniel Smith and other fine art printmaking supply vendors). This soy-based solvent is extremely gentle on the plate's plastic substrate and finer matrix. Rub it carefully into the plate with gloved hands, and then sop it up with clean newsprint. Repeat until almost all of the ink has been removed from the plate. Run it through the press onto 4 layers of clean newsprint. Now do a final, light drizzle with clean mineral spirits, rub it into the plate with a clean, gloved hand, blot with clean newsprint, and run it thru press onto 4 layers of clean newsprint again. Wrap the plate in clean newsprint, seal it in plastic, and store it horizontally in a cool dry place.

Using these tips, your photopolymer gravure plates will last for several dozen impressions or better.

Photographs featuring several generations of each side of the family will be something the bride and groom will cherish. A good wedding photographer will recognize this amazing opportunity and make sure they get some shots of older chums and family throughout the day.

The aim of any good wedding photographers is to capture memories of the day and that suggests not missing a minute of the party. Regularly older relatives may only be present for part of the event and so it is very important to get the shots of them when practical. It can help for the shutter-bug to meet up with the couple beforehand and debate family as much as practicable.

If the snapper can get as much information as possible about the families and will be able to search for the special bonds that have been mentioned. For instance, if a bride is especially close to her grandfather, the photographer can go looking for a special moment between them and capture an image which should provide a ecstatic memory long after her granddad has passed away.

A picture can help a memory to live on. One day the couple might be showing the wedding album to their own grandchildren and a particular image will prompt a tale about a relative who the child never had an opportunity to meet. Weddings are one of the few occasions where all of the generations of a family are brought together in one place. That makes it the perfect opportunity to have family portraits that span generations.

With an event so surrounded by tradition there's also an opportunity to capture those traditions, such as the bride wearing her grandmother's veil or tiara on film.
