Nothing Beats Irish Dance Lessons

By Janell Bowers

When a person signs up for Irish dance lessons they can feel as if they were magically transported to a simpler time. It is a very European feeling to imagine that one is light as a feather, floating over green pastures and beautiful meadows. A person might think of lush green meadows from the Emerald Isle.

Europe and many other locations have witnessed the growth and the main stream assimilation of the culture of Ireland. While their cuisine may not be so well respected, the friendliness and warmth of a family who is Irish leaves nothing to chance. Tourists will spend a lot of cash to get so close to their roots.

The Irish have emigrated far beyond the boundaries of their ancestral homeland. There are people of this descent in almost every country in the world. Some nations have higher concentrations, like the United States of America. But these people have been pioneers, travelling across the world to settle on remote corners of the earth and help shape and change the cultures of these native lands.

A great number of famous thespians, actors and figures of great renown originally hail from the wispy shores of the Emerald Island. Sir Liam Neeson is a famous person who has this descent, and so is the notable personage, Colin Firth. Many citizens of this land are regaled for their excellence in the fine arts. Even the former American President, John F. Kennedy, shares this heritage.

A number of cultures that could be considered native are already in possession of styles of dance that are native to themselves. The tradition of dancing brings native peoples together when they are in a diaspora. These traditions and long adhered cultural institutions are what preserves and maintains one's national identity.

If some body is trying to obtain a series of lessons in how to move the body, a smart thing is to look for the best teacher that can be found. It may be possible and advisable to find a location in a physical space, which provides a much greater tactile experience with hands on education. The improvements that one may experience from learning this art include self confidence, improved circulation and better body balance.

Kilts are over rated for certain. It's a misnomer to think that these male skirts are from the mother land of Ireland because they are not. They are used and have been traditionally worn mostly in Scotland as opposed to the green island of leprechauns. But whether or not one decides to wear a kilt during this traditional Hibernian exercise, it is necessary to wear a sturdy and supportive pair of underwear to prevent drafts and spoilage while taking Irish dance lessons.

It is always a stellar thought to try Irish dancing lessons at one's local academy of physical instruction or on line through a video program. Children can reap many benefits of this type of exercise, both physical and spiritual. But it isn't only for children; adults can benefit too and they can have a great time and enjoy connecting with their roots during this traditional art form.
