Reception Dance Songs That You Must Not Forget

By Susan Todd

At most western culture's wedding receptions, there's music. It's irrelevant if it's a sit down dinner, a buffet or light refreshments, music is universal. The general order of music is the following:

- Interlude
- Grand Entrance
- Dinner Music
- First Dance
- Father Daughter Dance
- Mother Son Dance

Interlude

The visitors come at the reception before the wedding party and newlyweds. Often, the newlyweds are having pics taken while the guests go to the reception. Mild, soft music typically goes together with this period while cocktails and hors d'oeuvres are provided.

Grand Entrance

The Grand Entrance is when the newlyweds arrive at the reception. Frequently, the wedding party is announced first as they enter into the room. The newlyweds come in last and are introduced as the new married couple.

Dinner Music

At the dinner, soft music is once again played. There's a lot of socializing in this time and sometimes individuals prefer to talk and not be overpowered by the music.

First Dance

The dancing does not start until the first dance of the bride and groom. This is a really extraordinary moment when they take the floor for the first time as a married couple. The selection of song is crucial for this dance. It should express the significance of the couple's relationship and love for each other. It should also be suitable for the kind of dance the couple wants to do.

Father Daughter Dance

The following dance is the Father Daughter dance. This is where the bride's father takes the floor with his girl. You might have a special song that both of you love or a song that characterizes your relationship. Your father might have a song special in mind, so don't forget to ask him before starting your search. While the father daughter songs are special, they're typically not as romantic as the first dance songs.

Mother Son Dance

Next to the Father Daugher dance is the Mother Son dance. There are times when these 2 dances are joined together. The Mother Son dance is another very important dance where the mother of the groom dances with her son. She could have an important song picked out that she has been brooding about for a considerable time, so be sure to ask her! These songs are often not as romantic as the first dance song.
