Would You Like To Start A Fashion Photography Career

By Spice Lloyd

We see them everywhere, in Magazines, on the Run Way, in ads on tv. They're the slim women strutting their stuff or extra standard Beauties with their sultry looks flashing their pearly whites while wearing the most recent Styles from the most up to date Designers. We are talking about the fashion models of today, yesterday and tomorrow.

They're everywhere we look, but who brings them to us? Their images are captures with care and precision, patience and that special look for style, color and lighting composition. I am talking about the fashion photographers. With the recently released ashton kutcher camera this is a possible camera to start your career.

In the fashion circles famous names like Mario Testino (simply one of the hottest names out there) and Eva Mueller (snapper for Fashion Magazine Allure) are quite as sought out if not more then those ladies and men sauntering their way into our conscious.

High Paychecks and glamour?s Approach to life of hob nobbing it with the rich and famous might be the dream of many young shutterbug, however it's not simple to get to the golden Staircases of the well known fashion homes and magazines. For each one talented shutter-bug, hundreds are left panting at the path, only dreaming about the instant that their photograph will be selected.

Here are a few advice for the beginner and dreamer of dreams in starting in fashion photography. Study your subject. You can't learn enough. Read and look at any fashion Magazine it is easy to get your hand on. There are wonderful books on Fashion and fashion photography available. Amazon.com has a real treasure trove available.

You need 1 or 2 good cameras, tripod and a lighting system. Always make certain that you have lots of film and batteries available. SLR and digicams take different photos, so take care you find the best for your field.

When submitting your work, hopefully to give an opportunity you have to have a portfolio available, just in case the editor of the fashion mag wants to see samples of your work. I assure you if they consider working with you that will be an actual fact. The sharp, bright images of a 4X5? Transparency show of your work to its best effort. If you have recently had a publication, no matter if, it had been a small neighborhood magazine/paper or a competition a tear sheet (literally a sheet you tore out of the magazine) works very well.

If neither is at hand a good top of the range 8 X 10 ?is acceptable as well. You want to make sure that you have a minimum of 20 photographs in your portfolio and preferably different styles. You need to show your experience in full figure or merely partial body parts.

Remember, fashion includes jewellery and accessories. Sometimes a watch from a famous maker on the slim wrist of a stunning girl is a good fashion shoot. If you're signing up for the job, be prepared to leave your Portfolio behind for an extended period of time, infrequently as much as a few weeks.

I'd guidance you to make copies and have one or two available. This turns out to be handy when showing your work to several different people for consideration for fashion work.
