Actresses of Hindi Film Industry

The versatility and talent of actresses of Hindi cinema could never stay under cover even the film industry was dominated by male actors. It was Zubeida, through film industry's first movie with soundtrack Alam Ara, who started the female presence in films. After that several actresses have graced the industry with memorable roles. Early period of Hindi films saw Nargis, Mala Sinha, Waheeda Rehman, Meena Kumari, Madhubala and Nutan, surprising everybody with their acting talent in the industry and holding a huge fan following.

It was because of their popularity that a lot of new talents came into the industry. The talent flow to movie industry was never stopped and Mumtaz, Sharmila Tagore, Asha Parekh and Helen entered the tinsel town. When parallel cinema got popular, actresses with a different aim like Deepti Naval, Shabana Azmi, Smita Patil and Jaya Bhaduri outperformed many of the actors of the same time. Instead of enacting supporting roles, they took the responsibility of the whole movie. Parveen Babi and Zeenat Aman effortlessly performed roles of sensuous women and rebelling youth in those times, going against society's traditions. Later on actresses became an inseparable part of films and each films became complete only with them.

In the 1980s and 1990s, Bollywood followers were mad about Sridevi, Karisma Kapoor, Madhuri Dixit, Juhi Chawla, Kajol and Raveena Tandon. Many popular song tracks showcasing Bollywood actresses were an evidence that they are important.

In the current generation of Bollywood actresses, you cannot miss out on Aishwarya Rai, Preity Zinta, Rani Mukerji, Kareena Kapoor, Bipasha Basu, Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone, Katrina Kaif, Sonam Kapoor, Soha Ali Khan, Konkona Sen Sharma, Genelia D'Souza, Anushka Sharma, Asin and Nandita Das. Not just for style but Bollywood actresses became known for their success and achievement in the industry.

Bollywood is never complete without the mention for great actresses like these, who have contributed so much for the growth of cinema.
