Bond 23 to shoot in South Africa

By David Leigh

When you think about the James Bond films you may think of an English secret agent who can handle anything thrown his way without a single rumple on his suit, or the more rough version played by Daniel Craig. You can actually think fast autos and glamorous girls; and you will also most likely think about those fabulously exotic places that 007 gets to visit, all on the pay of MI6.

Nevertheless it seems not all is not right for the next James Bond film. Just when it looked like the producers of the James Bond films had settled on shooting scenes in India for Bond 23 unofficial news came that they were instead switching production to S. A..

The explanation cited was that permission to film in a considerable number of locations, including an action sequence involving moving trains which would have needed sections of track owned by Indian Railways, were too slow in being granted.

S. A. had been held in reserve in case things failed to work out and earlier in the month it looked like the shoot in India would go ahead. However , the source of this information is the local representative of EON Productions in India, so confirmation hasn't come from the horse's mouth.

Filming authorization has reportedly been granted in Istanbul in Turkey and it is understood that a small team from the production have visited Istanbul to scout the shooting locations.

Aside from that, very little is known about Bond 23; Daniel Craig is set to reprise the role for the 3rd time; Sam Mendes is on board as director; the script has been penned by Neal Purvis, Robert Wade and John Logan; filming will start in November 2011; and the film will be premiered in London on 26th October 2012.

Though Judi Dench has announced that she is going to return, there's been no official word; and Jeffrey Wright who played Felix Leiter in Daniel Craig's first two films has said he has not been approached about Bond 23. And while Javier Bardem and Ralph Fiennes have been rumored to be involved there's been no confirmation; neither has there been any word of the Bond girl.
