Want To Improve Your Photos?

By Mike P. Hussey Jr

We, at times, assume that only those who are excellent photographers, or have taken it up as a serious business use image processing software. It is wrong, of course. Even as a rookie to photography, you can try your hands at photo editing. Using these, one can make their dull photos look appealing.

Image processors are costly and we all know that. They are loaded with functions that you -- a new photographer -- might not need. It might be suitable for a pro photographer but not you. This is why a free picture editor is the best solution for you. It doesn't hurt to try one of these. It might not have a lot of features but will have just enough for your needs. If you look around, you'll find that there are many such photo editors on the market that can help you add movie effect, panorama effect, sepia, negative, etc.

In this article, we will discuss some of the functions of these editing tools -

1. Are your photos grained? At times, due to many reasons, your photos might look grained in which case, you can use the sharpening tool present in these tools. It'll make the picture sharper and more visible. You can play around with the settings until you reach something that looks good.

2. Most of us have, at some time in our lives, adjusted brightness and contrast of a picture. It is the most basic function as well. You can actually improve your photo if it was shot in a dim location by increasing the brightness and contrast. There is an option for auto contrast that might be helpful as well.

3. Photo effects - Not all photo editors do this however, you can add photo effects to your photos through some editors. The quality of the picture is unaffected however, you are able to add a shiny effect. One may add retro, movie effect, sepia effect, panorama or any other such special effect. There are many apps on the iPhone too that do this.

4. Red eye correction tool is another such tool which I use for most photographs I take. Ever seen the red-eye effect in a photo you shot on a dinner at night? Annoying, isn't it? Red eye correction tool helps you remove that.

These few pointers can easily make any photo look a lot better. Though they might not add the touch of a professional photographer, they will still make your photos look better than all the other, unedited ones out there. For simple photo editing, you don't need to use any complex image processor. Simple photo editors will do the job perfectly. You just have to play around with the settings until you reach something that is good.
