Keeping Up Your Music Production Creativity

By Alan Jadson

If you have been making beats for a while, you'll be aware that there are times when your energy and creativeness levels are high, while there are other times when it's actually hard to keep yourself incentivized to form good work.

Whenever things are going well, it can be simple to make sure you're manufacturing fascinating beats. When things don't seem to be going well, all of it can frequently go from bad to worse, and will often keep doing so.

If you are not feeling too creative, it can be a brilliant idea to take a break, if you are able to. Sometimes, it will also help to take a little time out, away from the beat making software. This could permit your brain to recharge. If you come at things fresh, you could find that ideas start flowing again.

Actually intense work, like mixing down a very important track, can have a massive effect on your capability to write new material. If you are having a lot of difficulty with this, it could be worth pondering the way in which you structure your producing and writing work. As an example, if you find mixing drains you, try and prepare things so you do it in a managed block, away from your writing time.

It may also help you to get your creativity flowing again, if you try a new tack. Experimenting, without expecting something to come of it, frequently provides decent results, as well as a way to stretch the brain in a new direction. Trying out different genres or styles will help you with your most important beat writing work, most of the time.

Remember that there will be lots of times when you'll have peaks of energy and creativeness. Try to make sure you get the maximum from those periods, without burning yourself out. You can try to work out when you have a tendency to be at your best, but don't build up too many expectations, as to when you'll be at your peak. Too much build up can be fatal to your creativity as a beat maker.
