Ajay Devgan, one of the popular actors of Hindi movie industry, has been conferred the Best Actor Award in the National Film Awards two times. Ajay (real name Vishal Devgan) started his career with the movie Phool Aur Kaante in an action role, which was very unlikely of a debutant that time. He became popular for his action roles in several of his mega hit movies and then he began trying out other genres too. It was then he accepted the offer to star in Ishq, in a comedy role, along with Kajol. Besides Ishq, the Ajay-Kajol pair can be seen in Pyar To Hona Hi Tha, one of the biggest hits of 1998.
First National Award.
It was in 1998 that he acted in Zakhm, a film by Mahesh Bhatt, which brought him the 1st National Film Award for Best Actor, in which he performed a serious role. Sonali Bendre, Nagarjuna and Pooja Bhatt were his co-actors in this film, made in the background of 1992 riots. Following this achievement, Ajay Devgan worked with several noted directors of Hindi movie industry such as Sanjay Leela Bhansali in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Mani Ratnam in Yuva and Ram Gopal Varma in Company and Bhoot, in the coming years.
Ajay's Second National Award.
As he continued experimenting with different roles, in the year 2002, Rajkumar Santhoshi signed him for the biopic, The Legend of Bhagat Singh, to portray the Bhagat Singh's character. Acclaimed Movies.
Ajay has worked in almost 100 films in his film career, span over twenty years. Kaal and Khakee are two of the films in which he has portrayed negative characters, for which he got nominated in the Best Villain Award category. As he wished to focus more on Raju Chacha, his debut movie as a producer , he signed only Deewane in 2000. Even though Raju Chacha did not do well at the box office, the pair of Ajay and Kajol was once again seen on screen. His search for new challenges in Hindi movie industry made him direct the film U, Me Aur Hum in 2008. He was the lead actor and producer of the film. 3rd production was in 2009 with the movie All The Best: The Fun Begins. Ajay Devgan can be seen in action in the upcoming films Singham, Tezz and Power.
