According to popular online ticket vendor Aloud.com, Swedish pop megastars ABBA remain as popular as ever with UK gig-goers, with ticket sales for what has been hailed as the 'ultimate tribute show' topping ticket sales for the likes of even JLS.
Interest in ABBA and their extensive back catalogue, which contains classic anthems like Money, Money, Money and Waterloo, remains high following the continued success of hit musical Mamma Mia! in theatres across the world, while a 2008 big-screen version proved equally as popular.
One of the most iconic bands in music history have so far resisted the urge to reform nearly two decades after Agnetha, Anni-Frid, Benny and Bjrn parted company, leaving adoring fans to instead snap up gig tickets for the forthcoming ABBA The Show dates.
Over 100,000 fans flocked to venues across Europe for the most recent ABBA The Show tour and it is expected to make a triumphant return to the UK in November. In total, ABBA The Show has been performed in as many as 33 different countries and played to over two million people worldwide.
British boyband JLS, the 2008 X-Factor runners-up, look set to play to sell-out crowds across the country this year, although they are facing stiff competition from ABBA The Show.
Leading ticket website Aloud.com are reporting brisk sales for dates to see both JLS and ABBA The Show, but it's the latter that is ahead in the popularity stakes after selling more concert tickets. Simon Harper, Marketing Manager at Aloud.com, said: "Whether you're a Dancing Queen or a Super Trouper, ABBA's musical legacy continues to live on in the form of ABBA The Show.
"We've been extremely encouraged by the interest in the forthcoming tour on Aloud.com, so much so that current sale figures for ABBA The Show are better than those for the JLS dates. I'm sure the JLS boys will welcome the competition for music tickets and it just goes to show how diverse the music scene is here in the UK at the moment."
JLS and ABBA The Show are not alone is enjoying bumper ticket sales as acts like Bryan Adams, James Blunt, Snoop Dogg and veteran rockers Status Quo are also set to pull in the punters in 2011.
