Everybody who can hold a tune dreams of being a superstar, world tours and living out their childhood dream. But in order to do that one needs a specific set of skills. The country music needs new artists and a publisher should know How To Submit Videos To MTV and make it rocks.

Due to a lack of understanding, many facts are misconstrued when it comes to the role of who does what in this industry. Ignorance is partly to blame and so is the media for showing a slanted view of what the music industry is. But then again, they only show what is deemed to sell. For the average country musician who wants to break into the industry, it means a distinctive look that will set you apart such as distinct hat but not something that will render one out of touch with their fanbase.

The typical country music publisher would sign an artist or songwriter onto their label and then, as per the contractual agreement, have that person do what they do best. The more work they are able to produce the easier things relatively get going forward with their processes. After some time, all this work gets reviewed and the best out of the constant submissions is extracted in order to create a demo for the artist.

This demo is then used to spend time with a producer or someone else who has the power in taking the artist dream to the next step be it a manager or a song plugger. Success with these individuals often results in securing some form of radio play for the artist and their music. Once that has happened, an artist can rest assured that their dreams are taking shape into becoming a reality.

Publishers of music, regardless of the genre in which they specialize in have the sole responsibility of ensuring that the music they represent is licensed, making it easier to get the single featured on the mediums of media such as television and movies. Furthermore, they are responsible for ensuring that the artists represented get paid and received any and all royalties they are guaranteed for licensing their work to other entities.

One could also consider joining a union where they will find like-minded individuals and people who are already established in the desired career path that a person interested in becoming a publisher for country music can approach. Organisations such as the American Society of Composers or the Music Publishers Association are a great place to start as failure to get into these organizations could lead practical advice on what to do.

The payoff means a comfortable salary depending on the size of the company. Remuneration can range from anywhere slightly above $20 000 to upwards of $100 000.

People who are good with others, negotiating and have a passion for country music are bound to advance quickly within this type of career. It isn t easy but it is worth it if you are willing to put the needs of your clients first.
