The Hip Hop culture has been around since the late 70 s. For many people, the music was a form of self-expression and lowly turned into a way of life. The Hip Hop Mix CD culture is still alive today and many people, more specifically the youth, have taken it in their stride to follow this way of life.
Dance is a huge part of this ethos. One of the first dance genres that came alive during this era is breakdancing. It was introduced during the early days when the culture first came about. The dance involved males and females performing strenuous moves that involve flexibility and strength. They can be done alone, or in groups, and many people also battled in this genre for competition purposes.
There is also a certain style that people stick to when they want to come across as fresh or cool. This includes baggy pants, baggy shirts and even bandanas. It also involved wearing large boots to portray a certain look of being tough and unapproachable. Even women wore their clothes this way and were popular for doing so.
Playing rap music, which is also a term for the said style of music, was extremely popular. In fact, most of the artists or rappers never got the fame they wanted compared to the DJ s who were playing their songs at local parties and clubs. The setting normally involved a crowd of youth, turntables and unlimited rap music.
Using spray paint in public places usually means that you need to say something and you want people to know what that is. This is why graffiti was so common during this time. It was another way of showing people that they believe in a certain topic or theme. You would most find this in the more run-down areas and it would also cause people to be warmer when they are in those areas. It may not have meant that the people are dangerous, however, this was an era where being vocal wasn t known so if you were, it probably means that you are trouble.
In time, rap became so popular that if you didn t listen to it, you were almost seen as an outcast. Also, the music industry was booming and the artists who had other styles had to start thinking about incorporating the same style if they wanted to make sales. They would generally collaborate with rappers to make target.
As the world evolved, and so did technology, the digital sphere introduced unlimited downloading. This meant that people were not forced to listen to one genre on the radio just because it is the most popular. They were able to listen to whoever they preferred and it also gave other artists an opportunity to create music on an equal platform. Rap music dominated the industry mainly in the 80 s when it first came to light and now they have to compete with other genre s that are just as popular.
Although the culture is characterized as a form of bad behaviour of illegal doings, no one can deny that there has been a movement by people globally.
