Facts About Natural Hair Extensions

By Jessica Rogers

Hair extensions are hair-like products that people wear on their heads to add beauty, cover scars, or for other purposes. They may be made from synthetic materials such as plastic fiber or they may be made from real human hair. The ones made from real human hairs are usually more costly, but they present better quality and durability. Wearing natural hair extensions gives the wearer that natural look and beauty.

There are many colors and styles for natural and fake extensions. The various styles usually have different ways of application. In terms of quality, synthetic products present more stiffness, which makes them not to blend properly with hair on the head when styled in. It is passed through processing, which sometimes leads to addition of external finishes like silicone coat. The coat makes them shiny and they fade with time.

Synthetic hairs are not meant to be colored since the strands get damaged by the bleach or ammonia in most dyes. Heat cannot be used to style synthetic products. This is unlike natural extensions which can be styled using curling irons, blow dryers and straighteners.

Synthetic products are cheaper than natural products because they are of poor quality. When they get styled on the head they do not last long because of their poor quality. They are not durable and are easily damaged by chemicals, sun and rain among other factors. They mostly last for up to a few months unlike natural products which when cared and maintained properly, can last for up to a year.

The key to maintaining that fresh look that one gets when they step out of a beauty salon is maintenance. After styling, it is important to keep the synthetic or Remy hair well maintained at all times. It is advisable to wash them one a regular basis. One can wash them in a sink and use a towel to dry out the water.

Conditioning can be done using shampoo and conditioners. The products used for conditioning should not contain sulfates or parabens. Shampooing should also be done if the product allows it. When shampooing, the roots should be targeted more. Drying should be done with air in what is called air drying. One should never go to bed with wet hair as part of proper maintenance.

Cases of allergic reactions are rare but there are possibilities for some people to experience reactions from the use of these products. In such a case a person should seek medical attention with immediate effect to avoid more harm from taking place. Synthetic products are more credited to causing allergic reactions as compared to natural extensions.

Lastly, one should have a good salonist for the job. Not every salonist is qualified for the job. Many in the market are attracted by the growth and the potential of making money in the industry. Thus, being careful is of utmost importance.
