Tips For Sending Holiday Ecards For Your Business

By Brenda Wright

Sending cards to your clients and vendors is a good way to keep your business at the top of their minds. A lot of people appreciate getting cards over getting social media messages and text messages during special occasions. To increase the appeal of your cards and for them to have the most impact, here are some tips to keep in mind when sending out holiday ecards.

Decide who you want to email. It is best if you choose to email people that you have a personal relationship with or you are cordial towards. Avoid anyone that you do not interact well with. Separate your contacts into various lists, based on the purpose they serve in your organization. For instance, don't send similar cards to your customers and suppliers. This is because these are different segments of people and you relate with them differently.

Personalize the card. This will have more impact on the recipient. A great way of personalizing is by including the name of the recipient. You can also write a personal note on the card. Write different messages for the different recipients. The message that you write will depend on the kind of relationship that you have with the recipient.

Send the cards in time. Don't wait until the last minute to start designing and sending the cards since you will most likely run late. It will make more sense if you send the cards before the special day rather than if you send it after. Also, keep in mind that if you send it on the exact day, the recipients might miss out on seeing it since they might not read their messages on that day. Send it a few days before the big day.

When you are sending the cards, just send good wishes. Avoid including any kind of marketing material on the card, as this will negate the good that you will have done. Don't include promotions or coupon codes or anything to push the customer to buy whatever you are selling. Just focus on the key message, which is sending them good wishes during the special occasion.

Don't make things complicated. The simpler the card, the better. If you get too complicated, you might also get stressed out since you will have to put in a lot of work into the card. You can even the design the card on your own if it is simple. The other option is to get a designer to come up with a simple card.

When writing out the message, be generic. This is because people have different religious affiliations and different beliefs. If your beliefs do not appeal to them, then you will repel them. That is why it is best to keep things general in your messages. Do not lean towards any religion or philosophy.

Sending out these cards is a good way to strengthen the relationship that you have with stakeholders in your organization. Keep sending out cards on a regular basis. Even if most of the people do not respond, they still take note of your cards, so you should not be discouraged. Given the cost of acquiring a new customer, it is better that you do all you can to maintain them once you acquire them.
