Overview On CNC Machine Video Training

By Brian Butler

Computer Numerical Control or CNC machines executes control commands programmed before automatically. Stock materials such as blocks of metal or plastic is transformed into parts of a finished product. The digital designs made using Computer Aided Manufacturing and Computer Aided Design are turned into instructions that it interprets to be able to cut the parts.

There are various reasons in wanting to learn the way in operating them. This can be a career choice that you want to pursue or a business venture that have been on your mind for a while now. Whatever that reason may be, watch a CNC machine video training in order to help you out in familiarizing the concepts that will be presented here.

In creating an object using these machines, the basic process starts with designing the object first. You can do this using the CAD software in a personal computer. Using the CAM software, the design will then be translated into directives that would be converted as specific commands and codes for the CNC machine.

The program codes would be then tested by the operator in making sure that problems will not happen. This essential part in the process is also called as cutting air. If any mistakes or problems will arise about the speed and tool positions, having scrapped parts or damaging the machine is a possibility that could happen.

There are two categories of CNC machines generally. These are called conventional technologies and novel technologies. The conventional uses tools that are more on the physical side like drills, lathes and milling machines. Drilling spins a drill bit and move it into contact against a stationary stock material while lathes spin the material instead and cuts it when the spinning material touches the tool.

On the other hand, novel technologies uses specialized cutting techniques. These include laser cutting, water jet cutting, plasma cutting machines and electronic beam machining. They are more usually used in mass production of materials from durable metals while the conventional technologies are used usually in prototype making.

Different materials are possible to be used as well. Some examples of them are plastics, wood, fiberglass, steel, copper and other metals. The materials to be used largely depends on what the object you wish to create and what its uses would be. The many options of various materials you can use gives it an advantage over 3D printing which has limited types of material available as of now.

Objects and the parts for it were manually machined before resulting in large margins of error. Using CNC machines, it can lessen the margin of error to a minimum and the process repeated a number of times with precision. Making of complex shapes is also possible. Companies use these in mass production for their products and the parts of it because of its ability to repeat various processes while the precision is still maintained in all the objects created.

These are basic concepts of the involved processes in the CNC machining. Watching training videos for them will be of great help in seeing the processes yourself. To easily learn these concepts, a background in industrial arts, mechanical drafting and mathematics is very helpful.
