Do you know what makes grass look green or a rose flower red? Typically, a person can only see a green tint because it has pigments. The pigments have the role of absorbing solar spectrum from the sun apart from the green color. Therefore, the green is a tint that gets reflected back to the eyes of a person. The same truth holds for the rose flowers; rose pigments absorb all the colors except the red one.

The hue wheel refers to a diagram, which represents colors of visible sunlight spectrum. The common colors are orange, red, green, violet, blue, and yellow. Another wheel refers to Munsell. The wheel is more advanced. It has four additional colors to make a total of ten colors. They include yellow, red, yellow-red, blue-green, yellow-green, violet, blue-violet, green, red-violet, and blue.

Understanding various divisions of colors can be thoughtful of you. These divisions include primary, analogous, secondary, complimentary, and tertiary. Primary colors stand out to be the most common ones. They are normally blue, red, and yellow colors. Secondary is attained when two different primary colors get mixed together. For instance, you may mix blue and red. Good examples of secondary colors are violet, orange, and green.

Tertiary are those that come from the combination of primary and secondary colors. For instance, you may combine green and blue to give a blue-green color. Complimentary are those colors that do not resemble one another. They include red and green, blue and green. Analogous colors refer to those that look alike. They may include red-violet and red-violet.

Words like value, intensity, and hue should be understood so that you can comprehend more about colors. Hue is another simpler word of tint. The word is not too technical and it can be used by ordinary individuals out there. Colors like aqua and pink are described to be having high values. Colors like maroon and navy are regarded as colors having low values. On the other hand, intensity is well described when it comes to brightness and saturation of different colors. Normally, it is used in describing the purity of colors.

Did you know that color can be affected by temperature? They have temperatures and they may be referred as either cool or warm. When it comes to painting, oranges, yellows, and reds are warm colors whereas greens and violets are cool ones. Cool colors will recede while warm ones will advance.
