Theatres may be owned by individuals or companies. Most companies specialize in producing, performing, running, and then retiring pieces of work before they start new ones. However, some companies do several pieces of work concurrently. Pieces of work are retired after being played severally upon requests of audiences. There are many unions in this industry too. There are unions for actors, directors, managers, and other professionals. Staff is required by most theaters to be members to the unions.
