Things To Consider In Buying Vintage Shoes

By Danielle Galloway

You have the love for classical things. You caught yourself wishing to be born in the earlier generation or somehow you wished that time travel is possible. But then you realized that this time is still premature for time traveling machines. Though you can not go back to the old times, you can somehow relive the old time as you don on that elegant vintage shoes you found at the thrift shop.

As you may notice, these shops who sell old stuffs have dark rooms. It is not always intentional though, because they want the ambiance to appear old too. However, it makes it harder to spot flaws. So in order to find the best piece in store, hold it to the light to see any holes.

Do not hesitate on asking for advice in the shop. You may have gathered information about the old items but the sales assistant or owner could still help you in finding the ones suitable for you. At the same time, it is also good to develop a relationship with the seller so they could inform you when new old stocks are available.

As you may notice, the older the stuff is, the higher the value. So expect expensive prices from these shops. Since you have the love for old things, you have to set your budget. You have to buy something that is affordable. Do not purchase on something that is too expensive when your budget can not afford it.

You spot something shining from the dull corner of the shop and it never gets out of your mind. But the size on the label is larger than your actual size. The best option is ignore the sizing. Sizing today is different than of those in the past. The real reason behind it, no one can really know except the expert himself.

As what was mentioned above, do not pay attention to the labels. Rather, try it on to see if it fits. It is fair to assume these shops allow free fitting. This is to make sure that the buyer will not regret upon purchase, since it fits perfectly to her little toes.

Before going to the cashier and swipe your gold car in exchange of the item, make sure that you did not forget to check out the bottom. Check out if the heel tip is missing or not. See the leather around the straps and buckles if it is worn or torn. Avoid the stiffened leather for they are not comfortable in wearing.

Avoid buying items which need a lot of repairing. Chances are, it may be repaired but it will not be given justice. You might end up draining your money down the sink for being optimistic that the repair will restore the lost beauty.

You love the classic, from the books, to the cars, and the dress code. Finding vintage shops is hard, but finding vintage shoes is the real challenge. It might consume your whole day but if you want to feel what it feels like donning on a piece which was made in the history, then you must consider the things mentioned above. Enjoy shopping with an open mind as you do not know what might actually happen.
