The Power Of Art Can Move You

By Freda Watts

Should you be appreciative of the finer things in life, one would do well investing in some great pieces of artwork for your home, as the power of art is profound. To do this, one would benefit going to the local gallery. Here you will not only come across the local works but also some international canvasses.

Artworks come in many forms and one is not just restricted to paintings. One will find these different forms at the gallery you visit. One will find other forms such as various sculptures. Many mediums are used when the artist expresses them self.

Should you enjoy the different art forms, one should try to have at least four varying forms in the home. Although these works can tend to cost a lot, they make for brilliant conversational matter. One could even give painting a try yourself. This is a great way of expressing yourself and the more you paint the better you get at it.

Should this not be your cup of tea, one could always visit a gallery where your favorite artist exhibits his work and commission him to do some canvasses for your home. Usually the gallery will do this for you. Doing such work for a client is an artist's greatest dream. This is one way that the painter can get his name well known and should his work be admired by many people, he will soon get a good reputation which any one in the art world wants nowadays.

Artworks are used in many different ways in modern life. Children's sketches are used by psychologists to determine what they are thinking and experiencing in everyday life. These pictures are evaluated and the child's mental health is determined by their painting. This is a powerful means of helping children in distress.

Identikit artists help police by drawing sketches of people. They are given a few hints as to how the person looks and then come up with a fairly accurate picture of their identity. This way, many criminals are captured and detained.

In 2011, an African president's genitals were portrayed in a painting in one of the prominent galleries. An enraged citizen entered the gallery and defaced the painting by splashing it with a bucket of black paint. This caused an outrage and people took to the streets in protest thereof. This picture still hangs in the gallery today.

Many famous works hang in galleries all over the world and are securely guarded, that is how great the power of art can be. Such pieces are very valuable and in most cases irreplaceable. These works capture the times of years gone by and offer ideas as to how life was in those days. A very good example of artworks in centuries past, are the cave scribbling in Africa, where the cave people sketched pictures of their people hunting wild animals. By analyzing these pictures, people of today are able to understand the way they lived in those days.
