D5200 VS D7000: Which Is The Better Nikon DSLR Camera?

By Bryan Gibson

If you are in the market for Nikon digital SLR cameras, then you should know that both the D7000 and the D5200 are great choices. Both gadgets come with their own similarities and differences. Also, the second one is newer as it was released earlier this year and possesses the latest technology.

The D7000 is very impressive with its professional-style specs. However, it is now being replaced by the D7100, but it will still remain available for purchase for the next several months. With this, now is the best time to get this model if you are really interested with it because it now comes in sale and discounted prices.

Nikon D5200 Vs D7000 - 5 Major Differences:

Sensor - Both cameras have the DX-format CMOS image sensor, but the D5200 has 24.1 megapixels while the D700 only has 16.2. But the number of pixels is not the only factor for the quality of the images. Both Nikon devices are capable of capturing crisp and detailed images in vibrant colors.

Screen - Both cameras have 3-inch high resolution displays but the first one has an articulated monitor. You can flip and turn it for those odd angles. The second camera may have a fixed screen but it has a 170-degree ultra-wide viewing angle, and coupled with a tough screen glass, it is perfect for the outdoors.

Storage - Both Nikon products use SD, SDHC or SDXC memory cards, but the D7000 has 2 memory card slots which are ideal for professional photographers. Also, with this feature, you can save the photos you took on both cards at the same time and have the luxury of using JPEG and RAW differently in the 2 cards.

Viewfinder - The newer of the two has is more impressive as far as this aspect is concerned. It has a pentagonal prism which is specially coated and 100 percent frame coverage. The D5200 on the other hand has an Optical 0.78x with 95 percent frame coverage pentamirror which is really great for its price range.

Continuous Shooting - The newer Nikon digital SLR camera can shoot up to 5 frames per second while the other can take 6 frames every second so you will never miss a shot again. This is great for concerts, sporting events, and other special occasions.

Verdict

Now you know about the two digital SLR cameras and at the end of the day, it will all come down to what you really want. The D5200 is new in 2013 which means that it has the latest technology, but when it comes to features, the more expensive D7000 is better.
