By Janelle Burnett

There are surely lots of people who are interested in participating in Michigan cycling events. This should be a good thing for the person. However, he should make sure that he attends the event with proper knowledge about the etiquette and rules he must observe. Here are a few of the rules he should pay attention to.

First up, he has to get a suitable helmet for it. There are some people who dislikes wearing a helmet since they think that it is lame. However, this is the best way for him to avoid getting any concussions and injuries to his head when he gets into an accident while on the road.

Pay attention to his own legs. If possible, he should shave it thoroughly before the race. Some people do this to improve aerodynamics. Some do this to ensure wound care. However, there are those people who do this for the simple reason that they want their exposed legs to look smoother by properly shaving them.

His jersey will have to be carefully picked out. It is important that it is well-matched with his shorts, his arm warmers, and his socks. Be sure not to pick those jersey that are similar to a pro team kit or a national team kit. Only those who were given the right to wear it should use the said kit.

He might want to consider wearing his iPod. Indeed, there is nothing that can compare to the feeling of the smooth and calm breeze touching his skin while he listens to music. This should motivate him all the more to finish the course. However, know that there are rules when using iPod.

First of all, never wear his headphone when he is on a group ride. This will just put off the other members of the group. It is also the same as saying that he is not concerned with the safety of the other members. This will just end up with him being disliked by the group of cyclists one will be riding side-by-side.

There are etiquette for riding in group rides too. He should consider the distance between the riders in front of him and on his side. For the rider in front of him, keep a distance of six inches between his front wheel and the other's rear wheel. For the sides, make sure that there is just one on his side. Only receive instructions from the rider in the front of this pack.

Know more about the carbon wheels. Truth be told, this is one of those wheels that the person can use for racing. Since this is the case, he should already know that the carbon wheel is not a suitable wheel for training. What he needs for the training is a strong and heavy wheels.

He might want to bring ornaments and accessories. This is actually a good thing but he should make sure to follow the guidelines. If he does not follow the right guidelines for the said matter, he might not get a good experience out of the popular Michigan cycling events.
