The next step involves painting the sketch using a big brush. This is done using oil-based paints. A thin layer is required immediately after this one. The former is the under-cover layer; the one that determines many things on how the final art will appear. Try your best to bring out the exact shape of the dog appears in reality.

In order to have fur that look exactly as those of your pet, use light paints. The perfect color is obtained by using a mixture of the paints. It should resemble that of the dog or very close to that.

In order to produce something that is appealing to many people, include all the necessary details. Make the portraits resemble the pictures. If it is wet, let it dry before proceeding.

The final step in doing dog portrait painting is to work on the edges, ears and eyes. They should be of the appropriate size and shape. All these steps would have produced a perfect work.
