Many Uses For Home Illustrations

By Terrie Joyner

Artistic renderings are as close as one comes to an actual photograph without losing the personal touch. They can be done of most any subject and may be used for a variety of purposes. Home illustrations can be both thoughtful gifts and lucrative business tools.

An architectural rendering is when an artist takes a photograph or detailed description of a building and draws it out on quality paper using pen and ink or watercolors. Realtors, homeowners and builders have all been known to use them for various business and personal reasons. From beautiful representations of the building's facade, to a detailed floor plan or complete layout of a proposed community, the possibilities are endless.

Most homeowners have to work really hard for many years to see their dreams of owning a home become reality, so they tend to be quite proud of and attached to their beloved houses. For some people, it is the place they once lived that maintains that special place in their heart. Whichever situation the case may be, having that special relationship represented on paper by an artist's hand is a perfect way to gift something that will be treasured for years to come.

In the business of real estate, renderings serve quite a few different purposes. They make attractive imaging for printed materials like cards and ads. Having an artist take the time to sketch even the smallest of details with such care shows that a building has that special something that makes it worth having.

One way many realtors choose to show their clients that their business was appreciated and that they feel they have found the perfect match between home and owner is to present them with the artwork at the closing. Renderings are a great way to show prospective buyers how a house may appear when the landscaping and surroundings are at their best. There are so many uses for this medium in the real estate world.

Perhaps the businesses that rely on these drawings the most are those that are involved in the building and developing of housing complexes or individual endeavors. They can give the client an idea of what the final project will look like and allow for any changes to be made before construction begins. It also makes it possible to view the floor plan and amend anything that does not flow well.

A contractor can used these drawings in multiple ways to promote and sell their project. They make beautiful presentation pieces and give the clients a more visual concept of what their finished product will look like. In this manner, everyone can discuss the things they both like and dislike the most and suggest proposed changes.

Home illustrations are great tools for those who work in the field of building and selling houses. They are also remarkable gifts for both the new homeowner and the person who reminisces about the place they once lived and found great happiness. Whether done in simple pen and ink, or enhanced with watercolors, these renderings are functional pieces of artwork.
