Fundamental Film Editing Equipment Everyone Should Have

By Nolan Tornes

Over the past few years there has been a marked shift from having professional videos edited by professionals to anybody with computer who are able to do so. Using simple film editing equipment, it has now become easy for anyone to create decent videos from images collected. Below are some of the most important tools that you will need to start with your project.

Before beginning, you need a means by which to capture the images to your computer or whichever format you are familiar with. Some of the machines include camcorders, DVs and even your cell phone to capture good videos. The camcorder is however the best for many videographers as they allow one to transfer the video into formats they can easily use on a computer and home DVD player.

The HDVs made it possible for the creation of high definition footage on MiniDV tapes by means of using a fireWire. Using fast computers and strong software it has become possible to edit the footage you collect easily and efficiently. One big advantage is that you still get to create quality works out of a lean budget and do not even require hiring the services of a professional.

You will also find using a recent computer very helpful in churning out quality videos from your capturing devices. Make sure that the system has two hard disks to be on the safe side with one for holding your operating system. The other hard drive is primarily used for holding your videos in raw and finished formats and still ensures that it is done quickly.

If you have an older computer system but it has a dual core processor then you do not require buying a new one from the shop. Instead, carry valuable research into how you can tune it up to improve on its performance and speeds. The result is to have a machine with at minimum eight GB of RAM memory, improved processor speeds with at least two twenty inch LCD monitors.

Another important factor that is worthy of note is to make use of readily available software to make a good effort at good quality films. If using the Windows range of operating systems one can find the Windows Movie Maker software in the accessories menu. For the Mac user you also have access to software called iMovie but in both cases, one can opt for one of the many software available on the internet.

With all the basic film editing equipment on the ready, you should take a minute and visualize what the video should be like. This will have you on a plan of attack thereby saving you valuable time and effort in the nearby future. It is prudent that you work within a budget you can easily and affordably manage for best results.
