Finding The Difference Between Reproduced And Original Paintings For Sale

By Rosetta Drake

So many art enthusiasts out there would want to get items that they can be proud of. Too many things are made beautifully by artists and these are worth having. It is really nice to have these items but it can get suspicious when there are people who profess to having original paintings for sale.

One could easily fall for the flowery words of these people. Often, they may think that there are well-known artists whose artworks they could sell to others. The collectors may feel that they are very lucky. These things though are hard to believe. It would be easy to tell that the other person is lying simply because prized items often come tough. Owning them would take a lot of time and money.

The media that many artists prefer are masonite panel, wood and canvas. These works would be placed in stretchers. There is a great chance that the pieces would be showing various signs of aging. If the pieces are around for quite some time, there will be scratches and chips in it. These are normal for the time that passed will not know anything about prized items.

Paint characteristics are also easy to spot. Some of the surfaces would have the unique paint flow that is common to artists. They would have their own way of mixing a color into another. Those that are around for a long time are likely to fade as well. Paint pigment does not last forever. Subjecting it to different factors, especially the weather, will cause it to fade.

Paint flow looks very noticeable. Some artists have their unique ways of incorporating things into the background. They can have various strokes for the shapes. They would emphasize on many things which makes it appealing to the sense of touch. The reproduced materials will not have this.

There are notations usually placed at the back of the works. These could tell some details which are unique only in a particular time. Some of these are stamps, labels and other writings which gives a piece of history. The signature of the artist is also a very noticeable trait.

Reproductions are very known for the dot matrix style. If there is anything that people want, it is to make a very close copy that could confuse some. But then again, there are patterns that are not easily deleted no mater how much they try to hide them.

Also, it would be wise not to listen about how someone acquired the works of a very famous painter. The thing is, if these painters are very well-known, their works are already owned by the government. They would take the effort to keep and preserve these works as part of the history of a country. With that, no plain person is allowed to get any of these.

Art enthusiasts should consider to set goals at a more realistic sense. The thing is that there are also other artists that are worth giving their attention to. It would not be a bad thing to give them the chance. They have original paintings for sale as well and such are also just as nice. Giving them the chance would actually encourage them to produce more creative items.
