VHS To DVD Service Can Save The Day

By Shanna McNeil

Over the past thirty years technology has gone through a very fast paced growth phase. Forms of technology that were common place in the seventies and eighties are almost nonexistent now. The average consumer did not effectively keep up with the changing technology. Many were unintentionally left with record albums, cassette tapes, and reel to reel recordings while the world was using mp3s. There have been many left with video tape recordings as well. They are left with these while DVDs have cornered the market. VHS to DVD service is now available to help those left in this position.

There are at least three innocent victims of the technology improvements over the last decades. They are video tape recorders, VHS cameras, and their owners. Many owners had chronicled their lives on video tape. There are recordings of weddings, graduations, and family reunions. The face and voice of loved ones that have passed on are also available.

The lives of beloved kids have been recorded on tape. From the first words, birthday parties, births, and first steps, they could be watched as often as desired. Many had the false assumption that recordings would be a part of archives that would last forever. They could be passed down through many generations.

There are opportunities regarding recordings on video tape. The tapes themselves will not last long. As a matter of fact recording quality will decrease as the tapes age. This fact should be kept in mind.

The more tapes are played the higher the opportunities for them to be degraded or broken. The mechanical stress of fast forwarding, winding, and rewinding pulls on the tapes. Moisture in the air can also degrade tapes over a period of time. As many have uncovered, a magnet can be the worst enemy of a tape.

Computer technology has improved to the point where hard drives are large enough to store huge amounts of data. It is common to have videos stored on hard drives. With the older technology of VCR players and recorders, it is difficult if not impossible to transfer what is on a tape over to a computer.

There are professional services available that can convert tapes over to DVD. Once converted to DVD, the home movies can be transferred to hard drives at the owners leisure. Plus, a DVD is a safe way to store information for longer periods of time. It can be an ideal backup plan.

Professionals can convert videos in a way that optimizes the quality. Something can be seen as sketchy and wavy on tape. Yet it can end up becoming more crisp and clear utilizing professional equipment.

VHS to DVD service is a wise step to make in preserving precious memories. Whether of children, special historical events, or parents, they are very special and are taken from a perspective of the people performing the recordings. During this process the video tape integrity will be maintained. As days pass, the quality of the tape will lessen. The faster the transfers are made the less the opportunity for regrets and heartaches later.
