The Specs Of The Canon Powershot Camera

By Raymond Ebersole

The inexperienced and the experienced photographers alike are always searching for the perfect tool. Canon has come to earn the reputation in the industry for being able to fill this need. The Canon Powershot is a line of digital cameras that caters to almost all customers as it grows and evolves.

The point and shoot is a very popular model in the industry. This pocket or purse sized device allows customers to take pictures on the go and capture a variety of moments. It is the customary camera for novice photographers who have little experience with the technology. However, within this niche, there is a gamut of possibilities regarding the amount of control a photographer has.

The Powershot series of point and shoots can be browsed on their website. There about two dozen models that are designed to be as simple to use as possible. These are found in the A series. They feature sixteen megapixel image sensors and an incredibly intelligent automatic setting that can adapt to thirty-two different shooting situations. These devices can also record 720pixel HD video. They are the perfect camera to capture every snapshot.

Intermediate leveled photographers will appreciate ELPH cameras. It has a combination of portability and freedom over the images. It can be used in full manual mode and images can be enhanced with special effects like selective color. HD video is captured on this camera, just like its siblings, and it features a 10.1 megapixel image sensor.

The G series beckons more serious photographers that want even more control over their images but want to maintain portability. HD video is still captured in 1080 pixels. But, the lens and zoom feature have been kicked up a notch. In the G1X model, customers have almost as much control as they would in a DSLR camera. It is truly unlike any other point and shoot.

The most involved series is the SX with several top of the line cameras that boast one of a kind features. For example, Canon has introduced the first fifty times optical zoom on a camera in this series. Across the board, the zoom ranges from twenty to fifty times, getting up close and personal with the subject. The lens is not interchangeable, but in many other aspects, these cameras resemble DSLRs. From the body style to the range of shooting settings (aperture control, shutter speed control, manual, automatic), it is as close as one can get to the DSLR.

The D series contains just one model but it is a unique product. Nature enthusiasts often want to capture their adventures and memories on camera but find themselves in harsh environments. Some high tech equipment may not be able to handle such circumstances. This model can. It is labeled as waterproof, shockproof, and temperature resistant.

The Canon Powershot is a line of cameras that are geared towards a variety of photographers. Novices will enjoy the simple point and shoot models that do most of the thinking for the photographer. Those that prefer more control over their images can find options in the advanced series. Overall, the Powershot meets almost anyone's needs.
