The Photojournalism Type OF Wedding Photography

By Charlie Michaels

The power to pick a photography approach that determines how a wedding day will be recalled for a long time is in the hands of the soon-to-be married couple. There are still requests for customary wedding photography, but the demands for them has considerably reduced nowadays. An increasing number of betrothed couples in Singapore choose a more daring approach in their wedding photography. Rather than posing and smiling for the camera, they prefer pictures that show the true happening in their wedding. They or may not be aware that the photographer has been taking their picture, but that's precisely how they want their pictures taken.

This type of wedding photography is called photojournalism or wedding reportage photography. A lot of wedding photographers in Singapore now provide this kind of photography. The couples don't need to stop and pose for the camera all the time. Rather, the photographer just clicks and shoots photos with or without the knowledge of the pair or their visitors. With photojournalism, photographers are able to seize the true ambience of the event with natural-looking pictures.

The photographer can capture genuine emotions that way since the couple and their guests don't have to pose and give their best smile in front of the camera. Fleeting but precious instances that are almost impossible to be replicated and therefore must be taken on camera include the time when the father of the bride sheds a tear as he hands his daughter over to her new husband, when the tired flower girl tries hard to stay awake during the ceremony, and when the groom steals an appreciative glance at his wife. These are moments that must be captured on camera because they make the wedding real.

That's not to say that traditional photography isn't practiced anymore. Taking traditional photography is almost necessary during weddings. A photographer typically asks the bride and the groom to pose with each other before and after the wedding, and the whole family to pose with the newlywed couple right after the ceremony. These images and some others are included in the list of must-take shots of the photographer. However, the rest of the shots are ideally unscripted.

A singapore wedding photographer normally offers both traditional and photojournalism photography for weddings. However, many couples these days prefer a combination of two types. They have a list of shots that they like captured and they also want a reportage photography style on their wedding.
