Selling Your Original Abstract Paintings At A Local Art Fair

If you have been doing a lot of original abstract paintings and you feel they are good enough to sell. You might want to consider trying to get a spot at an art fair in your area and try to sell them. To do this, you will need to be prepared and know what you are going to sell and what it will take to do so. Working at a local art fair is a great way to get started selling your art work.

If you are serious about selling your original abstract paintings in this manner you are going to have to do some work on your part in order to be successful. You are going to need to do some research, have a good plan as well as put in a lot of your own time in order to pull it off.

You are going to need to do research on when your local city will be holding an art fair and who will be handling it. You can call your City of Commerce or talk to local artists of the area who frequent these types of events. You also might be able to get information about art fairs online as well. When you do find them, make sure you get the dates and all the registration facts you might need.

It is a good idea to visit an art fair prior to registering as an artist for one. This will provide you with a wealth of information that you can use to help sell your art at one of these events. By visiting one you will be able to see how booths are set up, the kind of customers that visit and other information that might be of benefit to you.

If you end up deciding that you do want to go this route, then you need to make sure that when you do go, that you are able to accept credit cards. Today, that is very simple since you can use your phone or a tablet or laptop in order to accept payments. You will have a better chance of selling items if you accept credit cards. Not all customers are going to bring cash or their checkbooks. Besides, you may not want to take a chance on checks bouncing.

You will need to register in order to sell your art, so make sure you know how to register, either online or if need be over the phone. You want to make sure that you contact the right people and send your payment to whomever is in charge of registrations.

After you have completed your registration you are going to need to go to the art fair and set your booth up. You will need to make sure that you bring a variety of different sizes and prices for display. You do not want to offer only higher priced items because you will be missing out on sales because some people may only want a certain size or certain price range.

One final note. Make sure that when you set your original abstract paintings up, you do so in an organized yet attractive manner. You also will want to make sure that the art work is set up a lone in its own area and not by where you will be making the transactions for the pieces that are sold.
