Sachin Tendulkar Biography A Portrait Of The Best Batsmen In The World

By Kristie Irwin

Many cricket fans around the world be enchanted by a Sachin Tendulkar biography. The great batsman has reached the heights of international cricket. In March 2012 he was the first cricketer to reach one hundred test centuries.

There is more to the 'little master' than what we see on the field, however. Sachin appears as cool, calm and collected no matter the occasion. Back in his home country of India, he is regarded almost a deity.

Perhaps this is because it is all he has known. Sachin's international test debut was in Pakistan, when aged sixteen. Just one year later he became the second youngest player ever to score a century in potentially tricky conditions in England. At nineteen, he moved to England to play for county side Yorkshire, becoming the first non-Yorkshireman to play for the club in over a hundred years. In a sport that is obsessed with statistics and records, this man continues to break them all.

That said, his cricket has not always been on an upward curve. There have been some toughs too, when he has been off form. This seems impossible to avoid, considering the difficulty of the game, plus the huge public expectation he carries. Right from being sixteen he was already India's most hyped sportsmen. On top of that, his home country is home to over a billion people, most of them cricket fans. Throughout this period, he rapidly shouldered a country's sporting aspirations and pundits began to pick wholes in his technique. Given that he built his reputation on flowing strokes of the bat, this must have concerned him greatly.

However, Tendulkar emerged from this bad form as a better cricketer and human being. His attitude was to get back to his top game and not look for excuses. He is mentioned in the same breadth as nineteen-thirties Australian legend Sir Don Bradman. Today sports journalists hype players up to great heights, and few can deliver. Even rare are those who can be referred to by one name alone: Pele, Babe, Tiger and Sachin.

People from Mumbai to Leeds feel honored to say to their friends "I saw him play". Thanks to his achievements, it has become easy to think that he has already retired; but he has not. In fact he is playing just as well today as in the mid-1990's. He stands out in the fast-moving twenty-20 games and the mentally draining five-day test matches alike.

Fame has in fact been an advantage to Sachin. He has earned a large income through endorsements and his own food empire. Nevertheless, he invests a lot of time in charitable work and is a public face for several organizations. For instance has been the mouthpiece for AIDS Awareness.

A Sachin Tendulkar biography will no doubt attract many readers because of achievements and fame. However, there is also a fascinating personal story to tell. A young man thrown into the limelight and regarded as a true great, who has fulfilled his potential. Yet, through it all, he has remained humble.
