Influential Female Singers Florida Natives

There is more to the 27th state than palm trees, sandy beaches and Disney World, though these are things that make it famous. For a lot of very talented female singers Florida is their home town and is where they got their start is show business. There are women singing a variety of musical styles including Pop, Rock, Jazz and R&B and other genres here who sing and perform at a variety of places including local fairs, night clubs, events and perform in the studio.

America's sweetheart, Many Moore, is native to the state and grew-up in the beautiful cit of Longwood, just outside of Orlando. She released her very first album in the late 1990s which became popular with teenagers, but wasn't unanimously loved by critics. She has starred in films and has seen some of her musical releases gain popularity with pop music lovers and has seen her popularity grow.

The Nickelodeon Network star Victoria Justice was born in Hollywood, FL in the 1990s, and got her break in show business when she and her family moved to California. She started acting when she was ten when she had a part in the network's teen show called, "Zoey 101" and has since gone on to appear in many other shows, including her own, "Victorious." Her music career has also taken-off with her album and her contributions to several compilation music projects and the performances she does on her show.

Also starting in "Victorious" is Boca Raton native, Ariana Grande who plays the wacky friend, Cat Valentine. Grande has performed numerous times on Broadway and has her very own music video titled, "Put Your Hearts Up." She has made appearances in other videos, such as several with co-star Victoria Justice, and other musicians and has performed on other TV shows.

Miami's Gloria Estefan is one of the top selling artists in the world and has won three Grammy Awards and countess other awards and recognitions. Gloria Estefan and The Miami Sound Machine started recording in the late 1970s. The artists' fame skyrocketed with the songs, "Rhythm is Gonna Get You" and "Congo" which are still loved today.

Velia Marinex, born in 1920 Tampa, became a beloved singer and actress who did a lot of performing at nightclubs. She performed in theaters in Cuba, where she spend much of her time. One of her best loved films starred Errol Flynn and was called, "The Big Boodie".

There is a lot of talent that is still undiscovered in this state and many of them perform at local venues like clubs and fairs. They also hire out to perform at events like wedding or other private places. There are session singers too, like Linda MacLean who sings Jazz and man other performers.

For female singers Florida is a good place to be and to be from. Mega stars such as Gloria Estefan and Mandy Moore hail from this great state, as do many other influential artists. The state is home to some great session musicians and some who perform at local events and venues.
