When the term donation comes into your mind set, you eventually think of offering gifts. Cornea donations are commonly done after the death of an individual. This depends whether the parties responsible decides to offer their eyes to save the lives of any victim of poor eyesight left alive. The fact that the eyes of an individual have no longer value after death should be an encouragement for individuals to donate their eyes after they die.

There is a procedure to follow in order to donate an eye. Basically you need to have an understanding with the eye bank or your immediate beneficiary of your intentions to donate. One is issued with a donor card as a sign of evidence of their willingness to donate upon their death. But what is more important is letting your family members or friends aware. This is to ensure that at the time of your death someone can contact the relevant body immediately.

Those that are eligible of benefiting from this project are those whose eyes are not functioning well. Their cornea is exchanged with a functional one. This therefore means that not everyone can qualify to be a donor. Those with damaged corneas for example are disqualified. Therefore, taking good care of the eyes is important whether you are thinking of donating or not. This is to ensure well functioning corneas hence good eyesight.

A large population of the world today greatly suffers from or is affected by eye problems. This blindness arises as soon as the cornea has been affected thus leading to one being partially blind or completely blind. This is referred to as cornea blindness. Eye donation is not only a noble course but also but also it assist bring hope to these people.

This is an open exercise to anyone. Regardless of the gender or age of a person, one can comfortably get into it. You just need to get into terms with an eye bank and signing an agreement. Even those with poor eyesight are encouraged to donate as their eyes too can be of use to cater for other issues.

It is crucial to be aware that donating is a free to do thing. No amount should be charged in the name of giving out the cornea after the death of an individual. Transplant operation should also not be a reason to charge the family members of the bereaved. It should be noted that it is the responsibility of the eye bank to cater for all the expenses involved.

For a cornea to work, it needs to be accessed immediately after the death of the donor. Thus the concerned persons should concern the eye bank immediately after there death. The will to donate is not an issue to have in the will of the deceased. This is because by the time the will gives a go ahead to the eye bank to have the deceased eye it will have already lost its value.

The hope of many individuals is restored by cornea donations. This task requires personal sacrifice and willingness to do it. It is a worth thing to do as it brings joy to a person who had lost their eyesight.
