Experiencing The Essence Of Eye Donations

By Mitzi Fitzgerald

Every individual is prone to death. It is what every individual being is subjected to after living on earth. Leaving behind a part of your body to save the life of another person after death is a noble idea that should be left unobserved. Such practices as eye donations are exercises that make a person worth remembrance even long after their death. Giving out an organ to another person upon death cause no harm to the lives of the deceased .

Eye surgery can only be performed after one gets into consent with the relevant institution. An eye bank is the mostly preferred body to get into such an agreement with. The agreement should clearly stipulate the fact that individual is willing to donate and that no coercion has been involved in the practice. One should inform the family members of the take to avoid putting them at loggerheads with the bank later after one dies.

The very useful part of the eye that one moves forth to donating is the cornea. This dictates that those individuals whose corneas have issues are not eligible for eye donations. This is a clear indication that those who want to donate their eyes in the long run should take good care at the present to avoid damaging the cornea. But even those without the intention should take good care of their eyes too.

Cornea blindness is one of the most common problems that many people are suffering from. It results from the cornea getting harmed or damaged. This can thus lead to serious issues with the eyesight and to the worse, total blindness. Coming across a donor is an experience worth remembrance. An individual can only lack a chance to express his or her gratitude, though it is worth the experience.

The most important thing about eye donations is that it has no age limit or any other discriminatory background. Any individual regardless of their age, gender, or race can comfortably offer to donate and save a life. Whether the individual donating had issues with their sight or not has no ill effect to this exercise. Yet the number of donors still remains absolutely low. This should however be an encouragement for well-wishers to offer an eye for a life.

The fact that this exercise is done at no charge should also be an encouragement. The costs incurred are catered for by the responsible eye bank. This information is very crucial to enlighten individuals not to be deceived by con-men who want to make money out of this practice.

A will is not a thing to indicate to when one desires to offer such a crucial gift. This is because the terms of a will can only be executed long after death occurs. The fact that the transplant need to be performed immediately after death occur justifies this aspect.

Eye donations are no doubt scary exercises. The practices remain beneficial to the recipient. It is however an exercise worth offering.
