What To Look For In Skullcandy Headphones

By Penelope Gutierrez

Skullcandy distributors manufacture several lines of products including clothing, accessories, and headphones. They pair design with technology to create the most advanced and attractive Skullcandy headphones possible.

Over Ear - Nine models, 10 colors, and dozens of logos and graphics make for a variety of options when choosing a set of over ear headphones. Models such as Skullcrushers, SK Pro, NBA, Mix Master, Hesh, GI, Collegiate, Aviator, and Agent can be paired with colors including yellow, white, red, orange, green, gray, gold, brown, blue, and black. They can also come with features such as 40mm speakers, mute buttons, cable inputs, and gold-plated plugs. Over ear head phones are designed to totally cover the ear and keep out all noise from outside.

On Ear - As with the over ear head phones, the on ears come in multiple models and colors. Uprock, Home Brew Kit, Lowrider, and Icon 2 can be paired with the before mentioned colors as well as purple and pink. Speaker size is around 30mm for these models, which is smaller than the over ears, but that makes sense as these are intended to let some outside noise through. They also feature form fitting headbands and ear cups that articulate.

Mic - Both over ear and on ear models have designs made especially for use with hands free phone calls and similar services. They incorporate a mic directly into their cables, as well as controls for playing, pausing, and shuffling through tracks on an MP3 player.

DJ - Some of the over ear models were created for DJs. They not only block out ambient noise with their articulating ear cups, but they can help reproduce sound accurately from a mixing board and isolate necessary sounds from crowd noise.

Sports - Many people nowadays prefer to listen to music while at sporting events. Models of Skullcandy on ear headphones can allow for this. They not only let you listen to whatever sounds you like, but they also still allow for you to hear sounds outside such as scores or people talking at you. They come with spare caps and soft lace cables.

Earphones and Earbuds - For those that prefer something smaller, there are 12 models of Skullcandy headphones style earphones and earbuds, including the 50/50, Chops Buds, Fix Buds, Fix In-Ear, Full Metal Jacket, Holua, Heavy Metal, Ink'd, Ink'd NBA, Riot, Smokin Buds, and Titan. The bud models sit just inside the ear and allow ambient noise to filter through, while the in-ear models rest inside the ear canal and block out the ambient noise. All come in multiple colors and include speakers of around 15mm. Some models also come with ear hangers to keep them more firmly planted on the head.
