We're Very Happy With It - Best Canon Digital Camera Critique

By Samantha Anderson

I could have not asked for a better camera for my wife. She dropped it twice the first day.

There is so much packed into this point and shoot camera that you've got to sit down for about a half an hour to an hour and learn how to use it. It's not rocket science but there are some things you need to learn how to use. It does not really come with an instruction manual to speak of, so be prepared to play around a lot and have things not make sense at first. I've been looking at getting this camera for a while.

None of the buttons do anything, pressing the zoom and shutter controls doesn't move the lens or take pictures, and it even has trouble turning off. I'm abroad for the next 3 weeks and now have no camera for field marine organism ID sessions and measurements, or for personal photos for that matter, and can't do a damn thing about it until I'm back in the States. The Stylus tough 6020 really lives up to its name. I'm a fishing guide in New York state and in the late fall and winter months it's the only camera you can use do to the colder weather. Anyway, I waited hoped it would work after drying out. Then LCD screen would constantly turn on and off. So, save your money and either buy another brand or just rent an underwater camera at one of the drive shops. When I got the camera in the mail I took it with me on a fishing trip.

I am not going to be going on an amazing vacation and need amazing, stellar pictures that sell them self. Come to find out, I am pleased. My camera only last for 1 month, I used it for one week in the beach and it took great pictures underwater, then I used it in the pool (1 meter or less deep) and water got in (the lock was secure) I don't recommend this camera to anyone! I did read the reviews before purchasing this and this camera was on another site rated highly for waterproof digital cameras so at only $170 I thought I would give it a shot since it was relatively low priced. so I just got this one and Olympus came a long way with their products because the 6020 is definitely the only camera I'm going to be using from now on, I have been through two point-and-click cameras in the last few years, this one is by far the best. It is smaller and lighter, and I like doesn't have the telescoping lens sticking out the front.

Hey, if you have it on macro, of course the picture will be blurry, if you're taking a picture of the sunset...learn how the camera works before giving it a horrible review. The pictures come out great, as long as you have all the right settings.

Wouldn't you want to know all that it does" This camera does a lot. It's just so much worse than even my cell phone's camera that I'm packing it off for a return. I'm very disappointed, since as I said the overall build quality seems quite good.

I wanted a camera to take in snorkeling and also one that I was not worried about getting wet if caught out in a rain shower. I have a Canon DSLR, but did not want to spend hundreds more for an underwater housing.

Also, night shooting seems to be sub-par, so just do not plan to use it for that. Word to the wise, get multiple batteries.
