Managed to pick it out with a fine wire and it is still working OK. Not a good design.
We carry all the time for great memories. Amazing product as I dropped it in pool and forgot about it, found it after 30 minutes and this camera was working as normal as it was before! All I have to do now is wait for my little Cannon Powershot to kick the bucket, Ok so I did some shopping around before I decided on this camera because my old camera broke. Though this camera was more expensive than some of the other camera's I looked at, I chose this one for a couple of reason's over the others: 1.
There is a funny sound emitted on playback. I read a review of the 8010 and it had the same issue. So therein lies the problem. The picture quality is average at best. Here are some cons just for your info; most might be adjustment issues since I'm so familiar with these cameras. And don't be discouraged you can always right more about the bad than the good. I took the camera to a gym to take pictures and movies of my son playing floor hockey. The images are so disappointing.
Also I can't wait to use the underwater feature on our next vacation. It also gives me some peace of mind knowing that it can be dropped from 5 foot and not be damaged.
All in all, it's a great camera. Battery life was long. We liked the camera so much we just bought our daughter one for her birthday, and will buy another one so the wife and I won't have to share. I bought this camera for a trip to Kauai (in fact, there now as I write this).
I snorkeled several times for the whole week and it did not fail. So I opted to buy my own Olympus to use on my next trip to Mexico.
It improves on the Stylus-tough 3000 series in a couple of great ways, solving many of the problems that the 3000 series had. I loved my 3000: even for its faults it still was great to have an ultra-portable, durable camera wherever I am.
I thought I had bought an indestructible camera for my teenage daughter. This camera did NOT function out of the box. The biggest issue for me - the internal lenses fogged, leaving me photo impaired for the remainder of a vacation in Central America. I will not buy another Olympus.
