Most of us have been using these for years now; this one takes some time to figure out. Spend some time with the manual to understand its menus and order of operation before taking any high-value pictures.
The LED is amazing. These modes would be great for engagement rings, baby feet and fingers, and pretty much everything. Water got in the camera and damaged it. I would suggest buying a different brand if you want to use it for underwater pictures.
There is so much packed into this point and shoot camera that you've got to sit down for about a half an hour to an hour and learn how to use it. It's not rocket science but there are some things you need to learn how to use. I went to Greece over the summer, and I had a very hard time trying to figure out what setting to use. During the night time, if I had a dark picture, you would see "bubbles" all around and it would totally ruin your picture. If you open it while it is wet or your hands are wet, then you should expect problems. After videotaping under water, I waited the suggested time, and made sure it was all dry, then opened the camera up to hook up to my computer. While the camera worked very well underwater for snorkeling, it fell short on land. I purchased the camera based on design and durability, believing that a company like Olympus would have figured out how to take digital photos, but I was wrong. This unit has all the features we need and is tough enough for this type of use. I've had this camera for just over a year and taken it all over the world multiple times. First Olympus camera ever - got it for my daughter because of its toughness. Wouldn't boot up - very poor manual, no troubleshooting. I received the camera I purchased 2 days after I ordered it and it was in the exact condition it was said to be in! This camera takes great pictures.
My surprise was that, when taking outdoor pictures, the image quality is excellent. The wide angle allows you to take great scenic photos.
I really like it. I've owned this camera for about 3 months. I sent in my camera twice, over six months. It would not turn on, and the pictures would not upload to the computer. I have had this camera for only about a week and I love it! The pictures and movies are so clear.
I am surprised by some of the negative reviews of this camera. I have a suggestion to those reviewers: READ THE MANUAL!

I ended up returning it and buying a Nikon s8100 for about the same price. ottoman with bed.
