A Great Product, So Wonderful - Nikon Waterproof Digital Camera Critique

By John Jenkins

I'm still playing with it and learning all the options but I highly recommend the camera. It does all that it says it does; it is compact and burly. Unfortunately it does not allow adding a date stamp directly on the jpeg image files. Not good.

The memory card that was supposed to fit in the camera didn't slide down all the way. In all, I would not suggest this camera to anyone who enjoys sending in their camera often, and enjoys not knowing which setting to use.

The third setting is holding the button down and it will continuous shoot photos. Most of the pictures come blurry and the color of the pictures is greyish. The flash is very poor. This product seems to predictably have issues so I replaced it with another manufacture. Don't buy the Olympus Stylus Tough, your throwing good money away.

I took 30 pictures at my 3 year olds birthday party (at a water park) and I had to edit every single one when I downloaded them to my computer. Colors were washed out by the aggressive flash on any close-up pictures. The camera is the slowest when taking multiple pictures in a row with the flash. The flash does take some time to recharge, but I don't think this is a big issue. Olympus clearly has poor quality control and I would not recommend them to anyone. I bought this for vacation to Mexico. Called the company and a reputable camera store and both said that once the circuit board gets wet, it needs to be replaced at a cost of at least $150. The company also recommends that it be sent in to have the seal replaced annual at the cost to the consumer.

With much research and review reading, we decided to get this camera. Over the past month it has performed just as good, if not better than our old one.

Rinsed off the saltwater and took it to the mountains for the long shots. It is small enough for a pocket and great for hiking and backpacking - no worries on dropping. It takes super clear pictures and great video. Learn how to use some of the settings and you'll have a great camera. The Stylus tough 6020 really lives up to its name. I'm a fishing guide in New York state and in the late fall and winter months it's the only camera you can use do to the colder weather.
