A Second Look at the Panasonic DMP-BDT 210 Blu-ray DVD Player

By Robert Mann

Die hard fans of the DVD era are happy to see the "next best thing" when it comes to a bookshelf-sized DVD player from Panasonic. The Panasonic DMP-BDT 210 has been endorsed by CNET with the Editor's Choice Award and obtained number 2 in rankings for the best player for 2011. Even online streaming had to face the competition, as Blu-ray retains its reputation for outstanding video quality.

The most important aspect of any player out there is the video quality. The Panasonic DMP-BDT210 plays 3D formats and also functions as a Blu-Ray player. It has built-in WiFi from which videos can seamlessly stream. Built in streaming services, including Netflix, Amazon Instant, Vudu, Pandora and CinemaNow, are easy for any user to navigate. The DMP-BDT210's user interface is just as easy to use. The player has a touch free sensor, enabling users to open and close the disc tray with a wave of their hand.

An additional feature of the Pansonic DMP-BDT 210 is its integration of the Skype program, which allows users to take video calls from friends and family anywhere in the world. Users may also leave messages for the caller telling them to call back later.

The Panasonic DMP-BDT 210 Blu-ray disc player has a streamlined look in glossy black. It's smaller and occupies less space. The player has an SD card slot and USB port, making file sharing easier. While it comes with a remote with dedicated buttons, it can also be controlled using an iPhone app. However, this function has limitations.

Although this player has overall streaming, it misses out on some high-profile services like Hulu Plus and MLB TV. It lacks onboard memory for accessing BD Live features. For a 3D player to be able to deliver great, crisp images, you will need a 3D display to enhance your home theater experience.

With an average cost of 170 dollars, this player provides an economic option for a leader among the best Blu-ray DVD players. An existing media center will be taken to a whole new level with the image quality and extra features of the Panasonic DMP-BDT 210. Some limitations with video streaming notwithstanding, this Blu-ray player is a luxury that is worth the investment price, and the owner will be reminded of this quality investment each time he or she watches a movie at home.
