By Mike R Crutello

When you have made the decision to get started using a digital camera, and retire your film camera, the features are sort of perplexing to figure out. To avoid being too confused, the beginning user of digital cameras should buy something that is simple and easy to use. You can get a digital camera of any complexity you wish, from easy to operate right up to the very complex models providing video capability.

More about Canon PowerShot revealed

Using a digital camera could present difficulties if what you are familiar with is a plain film camera model. It is significantly more than point the camera and click, because what you see on the screen is the finished product, you will need to spend some time getting the right focus. The Canon PowerShot A495, with its smooth, curved edges and streamlined appearance, has the simplicity a newbie is looking for. The camera has just the right combination of style and operating features for individuals looking for something comfortable to use packaged with good looks. It is a breeze to take your picture with dazzling color with the 3.3x optical zoom, along with 10.0-mexapixel resolution. All the detail is clear and precise with the DIGIC III Image Processor.

The screen image is bright and bold with a 2.5 inch LED, which makes for pleasurable image capture and image playback. You also have three different colors you can pick from. You can carry the PowerShot A495 in a bag which makes for snapping quick photos, and it is not a costly camera. It is a basic camera from a reputable company. Naturally, what you get is limited by what you pay, so you shouldn't expect $1,000 qualities. You can use it with ease straight out of the box, and the more so if you have a bit of experience with cameras. If you're a newbie user, you have to read up on all of the features of the Canon PowerShot A495 in the manual.

The Canon PowerShot A495 is made of plastic, but still rather durable. It is bigger than the cameras, which are ultra-compact, therefore is not as easy to drop. All the pictures it takes are of a genuinely good quality, and that includes the close-ups. The Canon PowerShot A495 comes with software that allows you to upload videos, with sound, to YouTube, directly after having recorded them. The photo editing software application, ZoomBrozer, is superb. It does take a while to recharge after you have taken a photograph, which is one of the few negatives of the Canon PowerShot A495. As you would expect from a camera which runs on two AA batteries, it takes a lot longer to recharge when you use the flash. The Canon PowerShot A495 doesn't come with optical viewfinder or image stabilization, but that is true of virtually all cameras that cost the same.

Although the LED screen is somewhat big, the resolution isn't good, but the pictures downloaded on the computer look a lot better. If you are a novice, the price of the Canon Powershot A495 makes it a terrific buy. The slow recharge speed following the shooting a picture is the biggest downside.
