Based on the novel by Jeff Lindsay entitled Darkly Dreaming Dexter is this American TV drama series. Dexter first aired in Showtime on October 1, 2006. It is centered on Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) whose profession is a pattern analyst for Miami's police department and a serial killer who kills the other killers that haven't been apprehended by law.
Some of the plots in this series have also been adapted from Stephen R. Pastore, a friend of Lindsay's. The first episode for the television series was written by screenwriter James Manos Jr.
Last February 2008, CBS began to air reruns of Dexter. It gathered the limelight towards the show, gaining much popularity and getting critical acclaim. A record-breaking 2.6 million viewers made Dexter the original and most-watched television series in the history of Showtime.
Actor Michael C. Hall has gotten plenty of awards and nominations including a Golden Globe for his role as Dexter.
Showtime has decided to pick up Dexter for the sixth season. This was not advertised as the last one, leaving room for a seventh one.
In the very first episode of Dexter, he is introduced with his profession. A blood spatter analyst and a serial killer for killers, the story picks up pace when he gets invited to a murder crime scene that has no visible blood to analyze.
With more than enough twists and turns from even just the main character himself, Dexter is definitely an intense drama series worth watching.
The sixth season just started airing this October 2, 2011. It plans to have twelve episodes for the series.
The latest season begins with Dexter attending his 20th year high school reunion. There, he finds a potential victim. He is also trying his best to understand religion with Harrison getting a shot at applying for a Catholic pre-school.
The second episode closes with an attack on a runner in the woods by the religious murderers.

Found at his shop alive, Brother Sam is rushed to the hospital. Initially suspecting a member of Nick's old gang, he sets out to investigate. With his obsession on an old cult known to have been performing sacrifices, the authorities think it was Dexter who plotted the attack. Their conclusion is cross-referenced with Professor Gellar's notes.
However, Dexter soon realizes it was Nick when he is able to retrieve the bullet from his apartment that complements Brother Sam's. He or she confronts Nick, but demands him to turn him self in. This action was influenced simply by Brother Sam's ask for to Dexter to forgive and also move on.
Nick's arrogance leads Dexter to drown and kill him.
Clapping from driving is Dexter's brother, Brian who is also the Ice Truck Murderer.
