Older believers need to be careful the way they talk, I'm told. So allow me to first say, yes, there are several modern songs around. The music and also the words both.
Now without a doubt could actually feel...
Because the "established" church has trouble using the old hymnbooks, I sing from one most every morning. In private. I really like even the poetry of those songs. I had been raised with them, so what can I say? There was clearly majesty and beauty and downright sense towards the words.
Take that one. I use never sung it within my life, couldn't whistle the tune easily tried, but while skimming by way of a particular songbook (Hymns in the Christian Life, 1936! -before even my time), I use stumble upon this song often. I made a decision to execute a read only. Oh my, I got touched greater than Plus inside a month of Sundays inside the established place. And i also mean no offense to my home church. I have trouble feeling at your home during song-time. Have a look at these words:
1. Jesus and shall it ever be, a mortal man ashamed of Thee?
Ashamed of Thee Whom angels praise, Whose glories shine through endless days?
2. Ashamed of Jesus! sooner far let evening blush your can purchase a star;
He sheds the beams of light divine o'er this benighted soul of mine.
3. Ashamed of Jesus! that dear Friend on Whom my hopes of heaven depend!
No; while i blush, be this my shame, that we destroy all the revere His Name.
4. Ashamed of Jesus! Yes, I might when I've no guilt to scrub away,
No tears to wipe, no good to crave, no fears to quell, no soul to avoid wasting.
5. Till then, nor is my boasting vain, till however boast a Saviour slain;
And O may this my glory be, that Christ is not really ashamed of me.
OH how wonderful those words of Joseph Grigg. I will only suppose Henry Oliver's tune enhances the sweetness. Because that's how a old songs were, in most cases. Great lyrics, supportive music. Not one other way around.
Here is a suggestion for Mother Church, the entire body in the Lord Himself. Whenever we so desire novelty for the youth, let's teach them many of these great old songs they may have never heard. In their eyes, they'll be new. To us they'll be precious. And we'll all be happy.
Suggestion two, while I'm with a roll. The Church wasn't for the globe, nevertheless for the saints. Allow the Church remain holy and draw all men to Christ throughout the preached cross. Allow the saints feel safe into their own residence. The globe has a unique.
Did I recently change individual...? definitely not. Music that attracts the flesh is on the world. Music that effects bodily changes is fleshly. Music that creates me desire to cover my ears can be an offense. Music that, like alcohol and tobacco, takes some being employed to should be eliminated before all ears are polluted and the ones will not likely even want to venture to a church that doesn't rock.
