Sadhana Shivdasani celebrates her birthday on September 2nd and she was born in a family where everybody liked movies. She is related to Babita, a Hindi film actress who is also the parent of Kareena and Karishma.

It was while doing her higher studies that she came on to the stage in some of the drama. Through Abana (1960), a Sindhi movie, she ventured into the world of films. She was spotted by the film director Subodh Mukherjee and was asked to perform the lead character in his movie Love In Simla opposite to debutant Joy Mukherjee, his son. The movie was directed by a debutant director, R K Nayyar, who later on married Sadhana. It was R K Nayyar who suggested Sadhana to have a fringe which became her trademark in the following years of her acting career.

Her image as one of the best actresses in '60s was because of the enactment in Ek Musafir Ek Hasina, Hum Dono and Parakh. Her connection with movies was not easily cut off. She participated actively in film making by the production company, the couple founded. She refused all the opportunities for acting in movies as those roles were not main characters.

She got a lot of opportunities to act along side many Bollywood actors, popular at that time.
