Never underestimate the power of what a top product image can achieve. These are some tips to do with commercial photography.

- Be prepared by doing your research and have a brief outline of the goals that wish to attain. This can refer to the branding of your company or services that you're offering to potential clients.

- Define your budget and if you have got any restrictions. Commercial photography isn't cheap and is an investment into your future. You'll need to advise any potential photographer of your financial position. A good photographer will keep this under consideration and advocate an approach that will keep within budget and start you in the right direction.

- Submit your brief with a timeline and ensure the professional photographer follows the brief. Have checkpoints so that a job is not finished and you are unsatisfied. Checkpoints allow you to make suggestions on the way.

- If you've a brand and a current catalogue of work, then make sure the photographer can see what you have. The photographer can then look at how they can work and keep within any branding requirements.

- The most important thing is to be sure you have a clear idea of the bigger picture. Know what you are after and ask the photographer to develop a couple of ideas. Be open to their ideas but make sure they understand what you are after and looking for.
