Main Criteria When Choosing a Camera.

By Dmitry Vasenyov

Compact digital camera - is light and small, but greatly simplifies photography, since a lot of modes are automated and give an opportunity to focus on your subject - it is not necessary to think about setting ISO, diaphragm, shutter time, etc. Photos made with the help of a digital camera can be edited on your computer, printed, and using the Internet, you are able to share photos by sending them to each corner of the world. With a digital camera you can do not only stills but also sound small video clips that can be viewed not only on the computer, but on a TV screen.

In order to decide what photo camera you need, it is better to make a list of demands. Do you need the control over the photo parameters, or you want the camera to calculate automatically? Do you need a small camera that can fit in your pocket? Do you need a camera for extreme photography? Or you need a camera with a big zoom? Will you print your pictures? And in what format? Once you answer these questions, it will be much easier to find a photo camera that meets your demands.

Having defined with these questions, go on to basic camera's technical parameters.

Matrix.

Matrix is a solid-state device with a definite number of photosensitive elements (pixels), the number of which is closely connected with a maximum print resolution for a given format. The types of constructions of photosensitive matrixes are: CCD and CMOS. They differ with principles of operation. These differences have no influence on the results of photography.

The main characteristic that is worth paying attention - is the resolution of the matrix. The number of megapixels has effect partly on the quality of the images, as the properties of the lens and camera settings have influence on the quality of photography. The more megapixels, the better the image detailization can be, respectively, you will be able to print a photograph of a large format.
