Learn Piano At Home - What Should Be Expected From A Home Study Piano Course

By Andy Penbram

Up until recently the only possible way to actually learn to play the piano or the keyboards has been to attend regular weekly sessions with a trained pro piano instructor. You would no doubt spend time studying how to read music, playing scales and learning a variety of classical pieces. There have constantly been one or two self taught people but on the whole it was less complicated and more effective to go to a regular teacher. Now with recent advances in technology it is completely possible to get high quality piano lessons in an audio visual format downloaded to your own computer that are quite as effective if not more so than attending standard piano lessons with a teacher.

There are at present many popular home study courses available for learning the piano, they can be downloaded and played back on your computer or you can purchase them on the standard DVD. The better courses are well thought out and will steer you from absolute beginner level to an especially high intermediate level. The material will sometimes be split up into lessons with a short video showing you what to do and a collection of audio files with more examples and reasons. It's actually kind of like having an individual piano teacher right there with you in your house available for lessons whenever you have the time.

To master the piano or the keyboards at home this way is so comfortable and very different to the more standard technique to learn. You will only move onto the more advanced levels when you have actually accepted, practiced and included the previous lessons. If you don't feel 100 percent comfortable with the existing lesson then you're under no pressure to move on, you can even go back and repeat previous lessons if you happen to feel you want more practice. On the other hand, if you are good to go on then you don't have to hang fire till next weeks piano lesson.

Learning piano in the peace of your own home has many advantages but one of the most enticing it that is is intensely cheap with a home learning course typically costing close to the same as 1 or 2 lessons with a professional teacher. Also, as the courses have a non-traditional approach to teaching you will be learning multiple styles and methodologies at a time.

Employing a home study piano course can be truly complete as you may learn the way to read music, the simple way to play from chord charts and how to improvise, you also should be taught how to play in multiple styles or genres It is superbly possible to use these courses to go from complete noob up to a high intermediate level of playing.
