Learning Guitar - Which Is Good: Acoustic Or Electric?

By Elvis Van Smith

Guitars can play a lot of music styles from jazz to blues and rock. The guitar is about four centuries old, but to this day, its exact lineage remains obscure. It is believed to have descended from several instruments from several countries. The guitar we know today is fashioned in the mid 1850s by a Spanish guitar artisan named Antonio Torres. The design greatly improved the tone and volume of the guitar, as well as the ease to which the instrument can be used.

Acoustic and Electric guitars are the instrument's main categories. The resonating cavity is an acoustic guitars hallmark feature to which vibrations from the string are amplified. Electric guitars on the other hand employs metal strings, pickups and amplifiers to create sound and these are usually set on a solid body. These days, combinations of the two have become commonplace.

The playing style and music genre are usually the factors which intermediate and pro guitarists use when shopping for their guitars. Fans of Jimi Hendrix's music will have better luck of copying his style if they also used a Fender Stratocaster model. In the same manner, those who love Johnny Cash's playing style can buy the same Martin D-35 he used frequently during his stage career.

For a beginner, choosing a guitar can be quite daunting especially because there varying perceptions on which type is best. On one side, others recommend electric guitars because they are less straining on the fingers. Others on the other hand recommend acoustic guitars because these don't have as much knobs and buttons to deal with. But when it comes to which is more easy on the pocket, an acoustic guitar is usually the better option.

Yamaha FG700S and the Taylor GS mini are two of the best acoustic guitars these days. Yamaha FG700S is a remarkable guitar for beginners because it is reasonably priced and easy on the fingers. The company's lifetime warranty also makes it a great buy. Those who own a Taylor GS mini say that they are immediately enamored by the guitar at first use. The reduced scale is perfect for beginners with shorter fingers. At the end of the day, the best acoustic guitar is the one that can effectively express your emotions and show your talent.
