How To Find The Perfect Maui Wedding Photographer

By Alika Kinimaka

Holding your wedding on the island of Maui is going to be an experience you will always remember and finding the perfect Maui wedding photographer is essential. The perfect artist can make you and the scenery around you look even more beautiful. So how can you be sure that you are selecting the right professional?

You will most likely be booking the person in advance before you arrive. So your first place of research will be on the Internet. All the top people will have an online portfolio. Do not choose to work with someone who does not. The portfolio will show you what they can do with the camera.

Once you have viewed the various examples of work on the Internet and found someone you like, it is time to make contact. Be sure to talk to this person over the phone. Have your pen and paper ready as well. Ask them about their favorite locations to take pictures and what they would recommend for your style of wedding. Once you have this information, research these places yourself to see which ones you really like.

Testimonials are important to see. There should be some available on their website, but if there are not, ask to see some so you can be sure of the standard of their work. Doing independent research is important as well. Find out their name and put it into your favorite search engine. If people have had negative experiences, you are sure to find out about them online. Do your research.

Price is something that you of course need to consider. When it comes to professional photography, it pays to get the best. You should approach people offering a really low price with caution. This is usually a sign of incompetence or amateurism. Find a happy medium, find someone whose work you admire and is set in the mid price range.

Ask the professional if they are prepared to turn up early on the big day and take some pictures of you getting ready. This can really add some character to your collection. The experience should feel personal; you should feel comfortable with the person and relaxed. Most professionals realize this and go out of their way to make you feel great.

Your opinion matters. Offer suggestions on location and combination of guests. If you are uneasy or do not like what they are doing, be sure to let them know. They want to make you as happy as possible and if you do not offer input, they will have no idea if they are doing the right thing.

Try and feel relaxed. Not everyone feels happy having his or her photograph taken, but almost everyone likes seeing the end result. Try and forget that the camera is there. The more relaxed that you are and the more comfortable that you feel, the better the end result will be. Your Maui wedding photographer is there to capture the magical moments of your day.
