You Have Accepted His Proposal Now Engagement Photos May Be Snapped

By Ron Mulland

One of the first things an engaged couple do after those acceptance words are spoken, is to have engagement photos taken. These could be used to tell the world about their future plans together. One or the other of the couple may be from out of town, so these pics can also be used in their hometown paper as well.

A fantasy wedding is in the minds and hearts of many young girls throughout the world, but later on, when reality settles in, she realizes that no one is free from flaws, both physically or in character. This fact is accepted and time marches on.

It sometimes takes many repeated snaps of the camera to capture just the right image for use in the papers. Not many folks have experience with this type of photography and it may take a little while for them to become comfortable and natural when the lens is pointed at them, expectantly.

Poses of several different kinds may be used, as could a multitude of backgrounds. Couples, take note, this could be a run-through for the wedding pictures. Practice makes perfect, many say so using this time to become comfortable in front of a camera could be helpful for events to come.

For friends and family of the bride and groom who live far away, perhaps in a hometown of one or both, the snapshot in the local newspaper may be the only look they get at the couple. It is likely that the photographer took some time to become thoroughly acquainted with the couple and with that knowledge, created some striking vignettes to choose from.

If there ever would be a time when a side of one person is shown to the other that they have never seen, being in front of a camera for engagement photos may do the trick. Of course, this time can also be good practice for the upcoming wedding photos that will be taken as well. Once the entire fantasy-like marriage process is over, then real life can begin.
